"That’s really what Chicago is about: It’s the juxtaposition of old and new," says interior designer Vern Yip.

The Kitchen

A warm, cozy respite, the kitchen showcases Arts and Crafts-style maple cabinetry, designed to maximize storage space. A neutral quartz countertop references the sandy shores of Chicago’s beachfront, while the mosaic tile backsplash recalls Frank Lloyd Wright’s own emphasis on linear shapes. "Everything in the unit is functional but also aesthetically appropriate," says interior designer Vern Yip.

The Living Room

Barcelona-style chairs anchor the living space, which comfortably seats up to 10 people. Custom artwork and an oversized wall sconce that celebrates Frank Lloyd Wright's Tree of Life design, serve as conversation pieces in this cozy gathering and dining space.

The Master Bedroom

"I wanted that room to be enveloping," says interior designer Vern Yip, who designed the master bedroom as a retreat for all seasons. The space boasts hand-painted walls and a a dramatic bed upholstered in cotton chenille. Vintage furnishings add charm and character to the Chicago-chic space.

The Master Bathroom

"You're surrounded by all this warm imagery, warm colors and warm metals," says Vern, who chose materials to counter the effects of Chicago's cold and blustery winters. Floors clad in warm stone tile and walls clad in both linear stone and glass mosaic tile create an inviting envelope.
