From the front door, 5-inch-wide maple plank flooring leads to the unit’s living room, which boasts enviable views of the Chicago skyline. “I want to create this warm place that’s going to greet you every time you walk through the front door, a warm place to be received,” says interior designer Vern Yip.

Inspired by architectural photographer Julius Schulman and the midcentury-modern school of architecture, Vern designed the powder room to serve as a foil to the unit’s Prairie School-inspired design elements.

A bold, geometric vessel sink doubles as artwork in the space; a floating vanity offers one drawer of storage for linens and toiletries.

The water-saving lavatory faucet echoes the design of the city’s modern architecture
