Alison Victoria

Chef Antonia Lofaso's favorite color is black. Which should be no surprise to fans who have watched her compete, cook and talk smack on Food Network — always clad in an all-black outfit. Naturally, when Antonia was looking to give her 4,000-square-foot home in Las Vegas some character, she linked up with the queen of black paint: HGTV host and interior designer Alison Victoria (star of Windy City Rehab and spinoff Sin City Rehab).

The renovated home is classic Alison: a modern haven with storied vintage furnishings — and, of course, lots of bold black. "Antonia trusted the process," says Alison. "I get her. She trusted me. It was beautiful."

A Friendship Was Born

The duo met while filming on the set of HGTV's Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge. "Even from a distance, I knew she was my type of person," Alison says.

A Very Vintage Welcome

Out with the new and in with the old. Antonia and Alison had been hunting for a set of vintage doors for the entryway with no luck — until a 150-year-old wooden masterpiece from France fell into their laps. The stroke of luck came from one of Alison's other clients, who no longer wanted the doors. "Antonia fell in love with them," says Alison. "So did her dad — which is surprising, because he hates old stuff."

The Living Room: Anything but Formal

Game rooms often exist in the depths of a home, but Antonia and her partner, Greg — with four kids between the two of them — want their game room to smack guests in the face as they walk through the front door. Four swivel chairs offer an inviting spot to lean back, relax and watch the couple battle it out on the shuffleboard table. “We want some Vegas edge," says Greg in an episode of Sin City Rehab. "But we’re old-school New York, and we want [our home] to reflect that.”

Functional Fun

Much to Antonia's delight, Alison installed a shuffleboard table under the television. The piece doubles as a stylish side table when not in use.

The Game Room Bar

Every game room needs a bar. Antonia and Alison found this one in an antique store. Cue the black paint. The duo covered it with a crisp shade of Benjamin Moore Black (2132-10) to let the intricate glass cabinet door shine.

The Dining Room: Vegas Glam

The entry and game room open up to the dining room, which glistens under a sparkling chandelier (Vegas style). To the right of the table, Alison added an antique marble-topped sideboard she'd been holding onto for more than a year. "I didn't know where it would go," she says. "When I found out we were doing this house, I knew it was perfect."

Antique Meets Modern

An antique food scale in robin's-egg blue adds color to the room's neutral palette. Alison painted the base of the antique table Benjamin Moore Black in a semigloss finish (to match the game room bar), accentuating its marble top.

The Kitchen: All in Black

The room's footprint was the only aspect of the space that remained the same. Alison swathed the rest of it in bold textures: leathered black granite for the countertops and backsplash, a butcher block on the island and a chocolate-brown hood vent. Tears fell when Alison unveiled the star of the space, a 48-inch Nova Series BlueStar range (with eight burners) in matte black. Simple black shaker lower cabinets surround the range. “And, to be clear,” Antonia declares, “no one touches the stove.”

The Television Room: Perfectly Cozy

The kitchen's dinette is backed by a television room. The space boasts a curved, oversized sofa and open built-in shelving on either side of the fireplace.

More Than a Home

"Alison’s design influence has completely rubbed off on me," says Antonia. "Now, I find myself obsessing over sconces, lighting fixtures, furniture and tile — things I never thought I’d think about. In return, I’ve given her recipes. She’s been sending me videos of herself making whipped cream with fresh vanilla beans … It’s been this wonderful back-and-forth exchange of our talents, which feels really special."

This home renovation was originally featured on Season 1, Episode 5, of Sin City Rehab on HGTV.
