Chalk-Full of Style
This cozy kitchen blends cottage and modern styles. The blue cabinetry and contrasting white countertop creates the perfect balance of hues. Plus by adding details like a chalkboard painted on the pantry and colorful bottles displayed on the countertop, Hilary created a charming space where any homeowner would gladly spend hours.
Dining In Style
On the other side of this charming kitchen, wood-framed stools line up against the kitchen island, creating the perfect place for an at-home weekend brunch. The dark wood stools blend seamlessly with the rich hardwood floors underfoot, and both create a crisp contrast to the white and blue color scheme in the rest of the kitchen.
Modern Makeover
This midcentury modern one features a lovely white marble kitchen island, paired with white-framed chairs with warm wooden seats, offering plenty of dining space. The tones of these chairs and countertop beautifullly balance the navy blue base of the island, as do the stunning rose gold lighting fixtures.
Chic Contrast
The dark subway tile backsplash creates a bold contrast with the crisp white cabinetery. Plus the bright flower arrangements the toile towels offer an extra dose of charm.
Airy and Bright
This bright white kitchen connects seamlessly with a convenient dining area. To keep the space from becoming too sterile, Hilary opted for rich, dark hardwood floors that warm up the room.
Multi-Functional Island
In addition to the functional and equally breezy dining area right next to the kitchen, this sleek island offers additional space for emjoying a meal. Plus the chrome-covered piece offers subtle separation between the kitchen and dining room, while still keeping the space amply open.
Simply Beautiful
This simple yet oh-so-chic kitchen boasts bright white cabinets and countertops, stainless steel appliances and a subtle yet sophisticated gray backsplash.
Urban Garden
On one wall in the kitchen, there’s an industrial herb garden, created by hanging small metal pots from mounted steel rods. To soften the overall look, Hilary yet again breaks out the chalkboard paint to create petite plant markers.
Moody Blues
This inviting kitchen features a soothing blue hue, carried throughout the cabinets, walls and even dining chairs. To break up the blue, Hilary incorporated a white tile backsplash, massive natural wood dining table, stainless steel appliances and a multi-tone hardwood floor.
Contemporary Kitchen
In case you were wondering if the Love It or List It design team is a fan of chalkboard paint, turn your attention to this cool kitchen example: One side features a full chalkboard wall. The modern pendant lights overhead add drama to the focal wall and also help the upholstered red bar stools really pop.
Stylish in Seafoam
This modern kitchen has major retro appeal, thanks to a chic dining nook featuring a minimalist table, with a funky lighting fixture overhead. The muted sea-foam cabinets and soft accent colors keep the space feeling calm and not over-designed.
Making a Splash
For an extra does of modern cool, the sea-foam green cabinets are offset by a herringbone-patterned backsplash, which features a range of neutral color tones from white to dark beige.
More Mod
The kitchen island offers an additional prep area in the spacious kitchen. And the simple yet eye-catching glass light fixtures help balance out the high, paneled ceiling.
Let There Be Light
In this contemporary eat-in kitchen, Hilary created a playful display with multiple hanging light fixtures, adding a pop of visual interest over the family-friendly dining area.
Great Outdoors
This contemporary kitchen already offered an open and airy feel, thanks to the wall of glass windows and doors that covered one side of the room. Hilary played up this airy feel by sticking to a neutral color palate and leaving plenty of open space in the floor plan. That said, the room still offers plenty of unique design, as seen with the contemporary wood and marble island, paired with industrial, metal-framed bar chairs.
Bits of Blue
While the design of the space is primarily filled with neutral, allowing the rich green hues of the outside landscape to shine, Hilary punctuated the kitchen and its adjoining living space with bright blue accessories.
Color Pop
This kitchen may be small, but Hilary helped open up the downstairs living space by blending the room with the dining and living areas. How? With unique pops of color, like these orange lighting fixtures that coordinate with the dining chairs and stand out against the green wall in the living room. Plus, the rich, hardwood flooring is carried throughout each room, creating a very cohesive feel.
Trading Places
In this kitchen makeover, Hilary swapped the dining and kitchen area. Doing so helped open up both areas, offering the homeowners ample room for cooking and enjoying their meals together. And since the large dining table, which extends from the kitchen island, can seat up to 10 people, there’s also plenty of space for all the homeowners’ guests!
Bon Apetit
This kitchen is inspired by all-things French bistro. From the lovely glass front cabinets and charming wood bar chairs to details like a large clock and silver serving trays, this kitchen is packed with Parisian charm.
All Natural
Every element of this rustic kitchen is designed to give off a natural look—from the exposed wood ceiling beam and the soft green cabinets to the flood of light coming in through the French doors.
Luminous Kitchen
In addition to the light flooding in through the gorgeous French doors, the skylight above the stairs also allows for ample natural light in this rustic kitchen. This helps brighten up all of the natural wood elements, including the kitchen island, dining table and beautiful hardwood floors.
Modern Monochromatic
You’d likely never guess that this pristine kitchen is actually totally dog-friendly. But its true—it features non-slip tiles, in-floor heating and built-in pocket dog doors, to keep the homeowners’ canine companions safe and comfortable. And for the humans who use the space, the kitchen offers plenty of room for storage, food prep and dining—all featuring a crisp white color palate.
Blissful Blue
In yet another beautiful kitchen makeover, all of the wood cabinetry was painted a soft blue, paired with beige granite countertops and a white tile backsplash. The blue cabinets not only balance out the more neutral kitchen elements, but also serve as the perfect backdrop for displays of white ceramic mugs and dishes.
Farmhouse Chic
The charming blue kitchen is accompanied by a cozy dining space, complete with a natural wood farm table, bench seating, rustic chairs and a unique contemporary, glass-encased lighting fixture.
Classic Elegance
This pristine white kitchen offers the perfect canvas for unique accessories, like the colorful fruit and flowers that adorn the countertops, brightly colored cookware and the pair of unique chrome chandeliers that dangle over the island.
