Cities With Glitz And Glam
Ten cities in the US dominate the rankings for the most glamorous city. Using 35 factors including household wealth, access to Michelin-starred restaurants and Fashion Week participation, lawn care company Lawnstarter determined the American cities where you can expect to live elegantly. Count down with us as we survey the top 10 most glam places in the country.
10. Honolulu
A naturally gorgeous tropical paradise, Honolulu is number 10 on the most glamorous list. While it may be the furthest city from the mainland, this island city ranks fourth for the number of luxury fashion stores per square mile and second for the number of luxury jewelry stores per square mile. When you're tired of shopping, soak in one of Honolulu's perfect sunsets, consider climbing to the top of Diamond Head or catch some rays at Waikiki Beach.
9. Las Vegas, Nevada
With the amount of money changing hands on a daily basis, it's no wonder Las Vegas made the most glamorous list. Nicknamed the entertainment capital of the world, Vegas is number three in the number of luxury fashion stores per square mile and in the top five for the most jewelry stores per square mile. With resorts such as the Bellagio and Caesars Palace and iconic performers like Celine Dion and Elton John, Las Vegas combines glamour and high stakes. Take an exclusive bird's-eye tour of the city on a Maverick Helicopters tour.
8. Boston
This iconic New England city is bursting with history and glamour. Despite its old-school roots, this city ranks high in fine dining destinations and ranks second for most luxury fashion stores per square mile. The Prudential Center and Newbury Street bustle with high-end designer stores.
7. Los Angeles
The City of Angels is filled with stars, just not the kind you can see at night. If rubbing elbows with the rich and famous is your dream, look no further than the city that ranks number two in the Lawnstarter most glamorous ranking for displays of status and wealth. Los Angeles also ranks high in fine dining — no wonder, considering five Top Chef champions have set up shop in the city.
6. Chicago
Frank Sinatra sang the praises of Chicago in his hit song "My Kind of Town," and it might just be yours, too. The Windy City ranks number five in entertainment options, including a generous amount of performance venues, theaters and nightclubs. Take a walk down Navy Pier for a deep-dish pizza and then catch a jazz show after. Don't forget to take in the lights, like the famous neon Chicago Theater sign.
5. Seattle
Seattle ranks high in fine dining and entertainment in the Pacific Northwest. The Emerald City is known for its coffee culture and as the birthplace of Starbucks, where you can get a cup of coffee at the original store in the historic Pike Place Market.
4. Washington, DC
With its rich history and population of diplomats, senators, judges and high-ranking politicians, the nation’s capital is a glamorous place, ranking high in measures of status and wealth, fine dining and luxury fashion. In addition to nationally known landmarks and top-notch art museums, Washington, DC, also boasts stunning architecture, such as the interior of the Library of Congress pictured here.
3. Miami, Florida
You might be surprised that Miami ranks number two in the country for the most fine-dining restaurants per square mile, followed by San Francisco. This cosmopolitan coastal city is culturally rich, boasting numerous world-class galleries and museums like the Pérez Art Museum and an international population of jet-setters.
2. New York City
Notorious for its high cost of living and confluence of the world's best theater, art and performance, New York City is a glamorous destination for its best-in-class fine dining and ample shopping opportunities. Take in priceless treasures on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, or see how the other half lives, dresses and preens at New York Fashion Week.
1. San Francisco
If you’re looking for access to the 5-star lifestyle, San Francisco is the city where you need to be. This year’s Glamour Capital, the golden city ranks number one for most fine dining restaurants per square mile, most luxury fashion stores per square mile and most luxury jewelry shops per square mile.
