Gather Your Supplies

For this craft, you will need: An 18"x 30" outdoor cocoa mat / black outdoor spray paint / 1 paint brush / white outdoor craft paint / plastic black spider / outdoor adhesive / newspaper / scissors

Get Painting

In a well ventilated area, spread out newspaper on your work surface. Place the cocoa mat in the center of the newspaper and spray paint the entire mat black. Set aside and allow to dry before moving on to the next step.

Create the Web

With the paint brush and white paint, paint a straight line from the bottom left corner to the top right corner of the mat.

String it Up

Next paint a line from the top to bottom of the first line a few inches from the center of the mat. Then paint another from the intersecting point to the bottom of the mat.

Continue On

Add the rest of the lines like so.

The Web's Base

The base of the web is now complete after this step. It is time to move onto the webbing.

Add Curves

Starting in the center of the intersecting points, begin to add the webbing by painting curved lines.

Make Rings

Continue to make consecutive rings of the web from the center out using small curved lines.

A Complete Web

Keep adding and building the center web until you are satisfied. Add a small partial web in the corner too if you like.

Room for a Spider

Paint a straight string of web to the right of the main web. This is where the spider will attach.

Spider Ring

With a pair of scissors, cut the ring off the bottom of the spider.

Just the Spider

The spider should now look like this.

Add Adhesive

Add a small bit of adhesive to the underside of the spider and glue him in place on the dangling bit of web you painted.
