Building the tree shape is super simple. It just requires a little advance planning and several sizes of measuring cups. For best results, have all of the materials ready in advance.

You will need:

  • waffle batter for at least 6 waffles
  • measuring cups - 2/3 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/4 cup, 1/8 cup
  • 2 fresh bananas
  • fruit to top
  • syrup and nuts (as desired)

Make two waffles for each of the sizes of measuring cups. Pour the batter for each in the very center of the waffle iron and close immediately. Place waffles on a wire rack to prevent sogginess. Slice bananas evenly (about 1/4 inch). For the first two layers place five banana slices between the waffles, one for each quarter and one in the center. For the top layers, place four banana slices close to the center.

Top the last waffle with a cluster of the remaining banana slices and fresh fruit of choice. Add syrup and other garnishes just before serving.
