How to Install the Bed Slats

Start by locating the studs in the area where you want to install your bed slats. Try to find and mark at least three studs and put marks down the wall in two places to properly secure your slats. You'll ultimately want at least four screws driven into the studs, two at the top and two at the bottom as evenly spaced as possible.

Transfer Your Marks to the Slats

Next, you'll need to transfer your marks on the wall to the front of your slats. Get your marks centered in each of the slats so that you'll have ample room to drive screws without the risk of any splitting.

Drill Pilot Holes

Take your bed slats to your workbench and drill small pilot holes where you've made your marks. Pilot holes are crucial to avoid splitting the wood so don't skip this step.
