Tour Breegan Jane's California Dream Home

The counters were made for dancing, so that’s exactly what we do on them!” says designer Breegan Jane of the pair of oversize islands in her Venice Beach, California, house. The host of HGTV Dream Home 2025 recently completed the 5,000-square-foot project, and the result is a space that balances moments of opulence with plenty of fun for her sons Kingsley, 11, and Kensington, 9. “I call it modern, approachable luxury,” she says. “It’s both elegant and laid-back.” To strike the balance she worked in sleek metallics, natural stone and luxe wallpaper — plus a bunch of surprises, like a DJ booth! "This house is my dream come true — there is plenty of glamour but also plenty of whimsy."

Here’s a sneak peek of the most playful places in the house. Read on to take a look!

The Kitchen

Yup, those are disco balls over the island! “You can’t set the mood in a space without proper lighting, and the atmosphere in here is electric!” says Breegan. She often invites guests to hop up and dance here. Gold finishes throughout the space, including brass snake pulls on the hidden refrigerator, make every meal feel glam!

The Rooftop

An organic table from Phillips Collection and wave-like fabric shade panels help make this space feel like an extension of the beach. Breegan installed a marine-grade TV for movie nights and a complete sound system. “At my house, the party — and the after-party — will never be without a proper soundtrack!”

The Playroom

“Fun is not an option here, it’s a requirement,” Breegan says. Her boys wanted their own “kids’ living room,” and she delivered with this over-the-top play area complete with a custom rock-climbing wall and corded net (it was woven on site by Treenet Collective). “My sons run on a never-ending supply of natural energy, so this is a dream space for them — and me!” she says.

The DJ Booth

"Music is the great uniter," says Breegan, "and I can’t imagine my house without one of my family’s biggest passions: DJing!" (Her boys take DJ and music production classes.)

The Guest Bedroom

“I wanted to design a room so beautiful that my friends and family wouldn’t want to leave,” says Breegan of this tropical-themed sanctuary. The hand-painted jungle wallpaper is from her own line with Clarke & Clarke. For the custom headboard, she chose a Moroccan lattice–inspired design. “I call this a staycation escape,” she says. The window treatments open and close with a remote.

The Dressing Room

Because Breegan spends a lot of time on camera, she wanted a place separate from her bedroom where she could prep for appearances. “This space is on an entirely different floor of the house!” she says. Most of her clothing hangs behind mirrored doors, but she leaves her jewelry (much of it from her grandmothers’ collections) on display. “This makes it easier to accessorize on the go!”

The Shoe Closet

“This was actually a solution for an awkward and shallow wall, but it really works!” says Breegan. All of her custom built-ins have doors to keep the space feeling serene and tidy, plus interior cabinet lighting. “I love opening them to showcase the shoes like an art installation.”
