Materials Needed:

  • crepe paper streamers
  • glue dots
  • floral stems
  • green masking tape
  • pinking shears
  • scissors

Prep Materials

Before making each flower, pre-cut tape pieces for the flower base. You’ll need two pieces of tape for each flower. Cut a corner off of each tape piece to make it a cone shape.

Rose Paper Flower

Cut off a 3-foot piece of crepe streamer. Gently stretch one edge of the streamer paper to make a ruffle effect. Wrap two glue dots on a floral stem about 1 inch from the top. Wrap the crepe paper around the stem, pleating the un-stretched side of the streamer as you wrap. Allow the stretched edge of the streamer to ruffle like flower petals. Make sure to keep the wrapping near the top of the floral stem and push the flower up if it drifts down the stem. Once finished, secure the flower to the floral stem with your two pieces of green tape.

Carnation Paper Flower

Cut off a 4-foot piece of crepe streamer. Accordion fold the streamer piece at about a 3-inch width. Using pinking shears, carefully trim one edge of the folded streamer. Using scissors, cut 1/4-inch slits along the pinked edge. Leave about 1/2-inch uncut at the bottom.

Wrap two glue dots on a floral stem about one inch from the top. Wrap the crepe paper around the stem, pleating the uncut edge of the streamer as you wrap. Make sure to keep the wrapping near the top of the floral stem and push the flower up if it drifts down the stem. Once finished, secure the flower to the floral stem with your two pieces of green tape.

Spider Mum Paper Flower

Cut off a 4-foot piece of crepe streamer. Accordion fold the streamer piece at about a 3-inch width. Using scissors, cut very thin slivers into the folded paper. Leave about a half-inch uncut at the bottom. Trim the slivers as you go to make tiny, pointed ends.

Wrap two glue dots on a floral stem about 1 inch from the top. Wrap the crepe paper around the stem, pleating the uncut edge of the streamer as you wrap. Make sure to keep the wrapping near the top of the floral stem and push the flower up if it drifts down the stem. Once finished, secure the flower to the floral stem with your two pieces of green tape.
