After painting your concrete blocks, get ready for some serious stacking. Be sure to wear a pair of work gloves while assembling the concrete block bench. Set four concrete blocks up in a tight row. Cover the surface of the concrete blocks in several thin lines of construction adhesive. Stack two concrete blocks, length-wise, across the top of the four concrete blocks. Finish the first bench stack by placing the remaining block on the back side of the stack. Attach with construction adhesive.
Measure and Create Second Stack

Stain and seal four 4x4s. Before beginning the second side of stacked blocks, use one of the wood planks to measure the appropriate distance between the concrete block stacks. Now, you can see your DIY bench with concrete blocks taking shape. Using the same technique as above, stack the remaining seven concrete blocks.

Use outdoor spray paint to cover any exposed construction adhesive. To complete the bench, slide the four wood pieces through the holes in the concrete blocks. Now that the DIY bench with concrete blocks is complete, add some floral love to the sides of the bench, using the top concrete blocks as planters. Finish off with a few decorative pillows, and enjoy all summer long.
