Cozy Space

An ultra-white bed and blush pink relaxed Roman shades on the windows help balance the forest green walls and ceiling in this cozy guest bedroom.

Creative Decor

A collection of vintage books stacked on one side of the guest bedroom gives everyone something to read. The colorful books add extra texture to the space, and offer a way to keep an alarm clock, reading glasses or other bedside essentials close by.

Trend-Worthy Trout

This eye-catching rainbow trout art on the guest bedroom wall above the books was done by artist Karen Musgraves. "We love the idea it pulls together all the colors you see throughout the house," says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Color Contrast

The rich forest-green designer Brian Patrick Flynn used for the guest bedroom walls is a color that never goes out of style. But to make sure the green seemed soft and not super dark, he juxtaposed the green with pale blush pink relaxed Roman shades with a slight swoop at the bottom for the bedroom windows.

New Lease on Life

The ultra-white guest bed was an old piece found locally on social media. The design team stripped the bed, and sprayed it a bright shade of white. "We gave it a new lease on life," says designer Brian Patrick Flynn. "We bought local things that other people were trying to get rid of and breathe new life into them."

Beautiful Bedding

The comfy bed includes a soft green full-sized diamond-patterned coverlet, and a blush duvet, pillowcases and fitted sheets made from 100% European flax that makes the bedding soft, breathable and long lasting.

Pattern Play

An evergreen and white gingham patterned throw pillow joins other stylish pillows on top of the bed, adding color, comfort and contrast for the other fashionable design details in this snug bedroom.

Natural Light

The large central window of the guest bedroom's bay sits over the bed. The bay windows used in HGTV Urban Oasis 2020 have a compelling appearance, flood rooms with natural light, and frame great views.

Space-Saving Lights

Playful spruce-green industrial-style sconces on each side of the bed have a fun vintage vibe. The industrial-style sconces were used in place of table lamps on end tables, to help save space in this cozy room.

Pop of Pink

A rattan stool with nice texture on this side of the bed offers a spot for a ceramic pitcher vase with faux flowers that another pop of pink to the bedroom.

Rest and Relax

The guest bedroom's white paneled door opens to the hallway outside with bold wallpaper that adds personality to this upstairs space. A flat-screen TV mounted on the bedroom wall offers a chance to check the morning news, or watch a favorite HGTV show from bed.

Lots of Storage

Double white paneled doors open to the guest bedroom's generously sized closet. The inside of the closet was painted the same lush shade of forest green as the bedroom walls, to create a coordinated look.

Neat and Organized

A selection of plaid shirts, jeans and other durable casual wear hang on the closet's two rods. The coordinating rods offer a way to group together different types of clothes, to keep the closet neat and organized.

Vintage Storage Solution

A pink vintage chest added inside the closet offers a way to keep boots, shoes and bags off the floor. "We found this oak chest at an antique market, stripped it, and then sprayed it in a similar shade of blush to what you see on the windows," says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Extra Cozy

By using the rich forest-green color for both the guest bedroom walls and ceiling, the space feels cozy and special.

Clean Backdrop

The guest bedroom’s painted utility-grade pine floor in different widths creates a clean backdrop for the more colorful design details in the space. The dramatic floor was sprayed with a thick white enamel boat-like finish, that creates a shiny surface that bounces light everywhere.
