Too-Cute Classroom
When the folks at Magnolia Market decided to makeover a classroom for a deserving teacher, the good people of Waco didn't waste any time in nominating their favorite middle school math teacher, Ms. Nixon.
Waco's Finest
So the team set out to transform her simple classroom into a space both she and her students would love spending time in. And based on Ms. Nixon's reaction, it looks like they did just that!
Shiplap Central
One of the room's most striking features is Joanna's signature wall covering: shiplap. The crisp white paint job helps brighten up the space, while the added texture creates a much more comfortable atmosphere for the students.
From Yawning to Awning
To continue the homey vibe, gorgeous wooden awnings and a pair of sweet window boxes border the classroom's two windows.
Take-Home Tips
While Joanna admits not every school will let you add shiplap or window awnings to a classroom, you can always add a succulent garden, warm area rugs and stylish carts and containers to make the space more fun and interesting.
Snazzy Office Space
And a jaw-dropping desk doesn't hurt either! Here, Ms. Nixon is delighted at the sight of her brand new desk area, complete with stylish new tools and a fabulous pendant light to make late-night grading just a bit more enjoyable.
An Apple a Day
Of course, each student's desk got a mini makeover as well with the addition of a brand-new composition notebook and a shiny red apple. It would be hard not to be excited for math class with a display like this!
Computer Central
We adore the black and white color palette featured in the classroom's computer corner, and a chalkboard alphabet scroll is the perfect finishing touch.
Classroom Cubbies
Ms. Nixon will have no problem keeping the space clutter free all year with discreet storage bins designed to keep odds and ends organized and out of site.
A Little Inspiration
Fixer Upper fans will instantly recognize the classroom wall art as the work of Chip and Jo's friend, Jimmy Don Holmes. The sign reads, "Life is a math equation. In order to gain the most, you must convert the negatives into positives."
Class Is In Session
What a way to start the school year! Congratulations, Ms. Nixon!
