Aries (March 21 – April 19)
Dramatize an oh-so-cool modern exterior with a fiery, deep red opening statement. “As an Aries, I can attest — we are bursting with energy, and we want everyone around us to know it from the start," says Kristen Kristen, certified color consultant at Paintzen. “Painting your front door in a bold color prepares people for the excitement that is to come once they are inside your home.” Offset that exclamation point with a bit of architectural greenery.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
For Venus-ruled, feminine Earth sign Taurus, “a dusty pink is perfect; it can be used as a versatile, practical neutral, or can be dressed up to feel more stylish,” Kristen explains. “Try it in a powder room with mixed metals or glossy white tile.” Want to pull in additional shades? The HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams 2020 Color Collection choreographs 10 complementary hues: Romance (a calming blush) partners beautifully with other warm neutrals and deeper tones like Coral Reef, similar to the eye-catching shade in this space.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
“We love a warm, versatile yellow for Geminis, due to its cheerfulness and adaptability,” Kristen says. Create a rise-and-shine dining nook with a sunny yellow like this one, and don’t be shy about doubling down with furniture and tabletop accents as designer Brian Patrick Flynn did; more is more when it comes to exuberant hues, particularly in smaller spaces.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Go back to basics with a congenial classic and splash your walls with an icy white. Kristen suggests drawing inspiration from Cancer's celebrated sensitivity: “PPG’s Aria is about as gentle and understanding as colors come; it can adapt to warm and cool colors and, like Cancers, play well in a space no matter what its surroundings. If you need a color to be your ‘best friend’, Aria is a great choice.”

Leo (July 23 – August 22)
Ruled by the sun, confident and regal Leo deserves an opulent space — like this masculine lounge. “Leos need a color that is as elegant as it is eye-catching, and gold is a great choice,” Kristen says. “It’s rich and warm and perfect for rooms in your home where you will be hosting, like a living room or dining room.” Reach for gleaming accents and plush velvet to complete the royal welcome.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
“Virgos are Earth signs, and are typically resourceful and logical. Embracing earthy tones like tans and subdued greens (PPG’s Guacamole for example) would be a good place to start for Virgos searching for a paint color,” Kristen says. Give those retro tones a contemporary edge by layering in texture, as with the throw pillows on this pair of tufted sofas, then sprinkle in pops of saturated color (like the occasional neon spine on the built-ins).
Libra (September 23 – October 22)
Kristen encourages Libras to look outdoors as well: “[they] may also gravitate towards shades of green, a color often associated with harmony. Try a paler shade like a light sage in a powder room or bedroom to bring some calm into your space.” Pair a green like Behr’s 2020 Color of the Year — Back to Nature, a garden-inspired hue — with organic elements like wrought iron, woven fibers and knotted planks.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
Scorpio is associated with fierce emotions and intensity, and Kristen suggests leaning into that reputation. “Burgundy is perfect for a Scorpio looking for a deep, sophisticated paint color. This color is even more romantic with dark wooden floors or furniture.” Take a few steps down the color wheel and give the wine-dark tone a luxurious and masculine feel with textiles in shades of rust.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
“For a color that is both friendly and passionate, try plum,” Kristen says. “Something like PPG’s Chilled Wine is perfect — a dark purple with a sweetness to it that makes it perfect for dining rooms or even cozy entryways or foyers.” Plum is ripe (as it were) for angular spaces like this dining nook; use it to catch and reflect rich, warm light from windows and lamps. Add even more emphasis to architectural details with a coat of crisp white on moldings and windows.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)
Kristen gets right down to business with the zodiac’s hard-working, goal-oriented tenth sign: “Most Capricorns will likely have a practical, realistic approach to their choice in paint color, so a velvety gray is a great choice. Especially when paired with dark accents, this shade is especially grounding.” To loosen the collar on a buttoned-up look like this one, pull in playful accents like the metallic Moroccan pouf and the ceramic canine bust on the trunk doubling as an occasional table (there’s that practicality again!).

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)
“The color family I feel is best suited for Aquarius is, not shockingly, blues — particularly shades of aqua and teal,” Kristen says. “PPG’s Colonial Aqua is one of our customers’ most-loved paint colors. We love this paired with white trim for an approachable, classic look, or with lots of gold or brassy accents for a bolder statement!” Take a Caribbean shade like this one in a beachy direction with natural wood and rattan, go nautical with crisp whites and reflective metals, or go modern-eclectic, as in this space, by meeting in the middle.
Pisces (February 19 – March 20)
“Light mint is a good choice for the bedroom of a Pisces; it’s soft and thoughtful, a good aesthetic for daydreamers and creatives,” Kristen explains. Give this pastel a bit of oomph by contrasting its ethereal tranquility with deeper tones like teal and olive — and by sneaking in a bit of texture with artwork and linens.
