Whether you have a high-maintenance mongrel or a simple pooch, one thing’s for sure: Dogs come with a lot of stuff. From kibble and leashes to treats and toys, it can be hard to keep everything within arm’s reach but away from your dog. That’s where this snazzy pet cabinet comes into play.

Be Bold With Color

For this project, you can use any cabinet that has enough space for all of your dog’s accessories. We chose a tall cabinet with multiple shelves to keep things organized. To add a little playfulness, paint your cabinet in a vibrant shade and add decorative wallpaper to the back. We also added painted gold details for a hint of glamour.

Don't Forget the Doors

Paint one of the interior doors with black chalkboard paint so you can easily keep track of vet appointments, the dog sitter’s number and more. Add a small row of hooks for leashes. Make messy moments a breeze by attaching grips to hold a mop and broom directly inside the cabinet door.

Smart, Safe Storage

We suggest storing food on the lowest shelf in a heavy container that won’t be easily knocked over by your pup. Choose a container with an air-tight lid to keep the food fresh. Stash toys in plain sight on the second shelf where they can be easily accessed. Store treats on the next shelf so they are out of your dog’s reach. On the highest shelf, stock any medicines or cleaners, making sure your dog cannot access them. And that's it! Now, go enjoy that precious pooch of yours.

DIY Elevated Dog Feeding Station With Built-In Storage

It’s time to tame the mess that the dog bowl makes on your kitchen floor. For the cost of just one sheet of plywood, build this raised dog food and water bowl with handy, hidden storage. Note: Some veterinarians warn that raised feeders may cause bloat in large- and giant-breed dogs by allowing them to eat and drink too quickly causing their stomach to fill with air. So this project is not advised for dogs who are at risk for bloat — however, it could really help an aging or arthritic dog who's having trouble bending over. If in doubt, first check with your vet.
