Make a Modern Fall Harvest Centerpiece

Use ordinary household items & natural elements to create a fun centerpiece for your next celebration.

Fall decor can sometimes look heavy, but this sprawling centerpiece of pumpkin-colored California poppies, ivory peonies, saffron Peruvian lilies and crimson-tinted persimmon berries makes a warm, inviting space for guests. Juxtaposing unexpected flowers varieties against a monochromatic base in slate gray allows the softer hues and airy branches to stand out.

What You'll Need

  • terra cotta pot
  • wooden candlesticks
  • hot glue gun + glue sticks
  • spray paint
  • tapered candles
  • flowers
  • birch bark
  • glass jar
  • tablecloth
  • floral foam
  • floral shears

Prepare Materials for Arrangement

Spray paint vase and candlesticks in a well-ventilated environment, all in the same color. Soak floral foam in water then cut pieces that securely fit in a vase. Separate your flowers into smaller groups.

Assemble Floral Arrangement

Insert and cut stems into the foam filled container, making sure it covers all of the foam. Measure around the outside of the jar, cut the birch bark down to size, wrap and secure with hot glue.

Finish Tablescape

Iron selected tablecloth and pair with complementing candlesticks. Arrange and display curated items along the center of the table.
