Modern Swirly Pumpkin Decor

Add some modern flair to your Halloween decor with this simple project.

Turn the pumpkin upside down in a container that will protect the stem. Use a permanent marker to make six approximately equal sections. Use the natural grooves in the pumpkin as your guide and draw the lines from the bottom to the top of the pumpkin. Wrap painter’s tape around the middle of the pumpkin horizontally.

Preparing the Pumpkin

Make six equal sections with a permanent marker and divide the pumpkin in half with painter's tape.

Make the first row of swirls upside down filling the space between the lines and the masking tape.

Make the first row of swirls upside down filling the space between the lines and the masking tape.

Add small curls on the sides of the middle and top row of swirls.

The Final Swirly Touches

Add small curls on the sides of the middle and top row of swirls.

Add three dots vertically between each of the bottom swirls and one dot between the top row of swirls and just above each of the top swirls. Press down any pointy caulk with your fingertips.

Add three dots vertically between each of the bottom swirls and one dot between the top row of swirls and just above each of the top swirls. Press down any pointy caulk with your fingertips.

Use newsprint and painter's tape to completely mask off the stem.

Use newsprint and painter's tape to completely mask off the stem.

Paint your pumpkin completely in a well-ventilated space and allow to dry. Remove your masking when the pumpkin is completely dry.
