MacKenzie-Childs Has a New Outdoor Dining Collection, and We Want Every Single Item

The season of dining al fresco is upon us. For those who like to set a festive, tasteful table, its approach may present a quandary: Do you use your favorite ceramic dishes outside and risk chips, cracks and (gasp) crashes? Or do you sacrifice beauty and luxury for durability, reaching for dishes made of a more accident-proof material like melamine or acrylic?

MacKenzie-Childs is checking that dilemma at the door. (Fans of its popular patterns — and we are among them — will see what we did there.) The luxury home decor brand, known for its charming, cheerfully chic designs, is debuting its first-ever Melamine & Acrylic collection. It features a variety of tabletop items in six whimsical patterns — and we want every single one.

What is the new Melamine & Acrylic collection from MacKenzie-Childs?

The new collection features the brand’s playfully pretty style. Made from durable, break-resistant melamine and acrylic, the collection is designed for both indoor and outdoor dining and entertaining.

Better yet, the dishes are dishwasher safe (top-rack only) and lightweight for easy carrying.

The items are designed to add a “pop of whimsy” to “everything from family brunches to playful kids’ tables, garden parties and everything in between,” the brand says.

What patterns are in the MacKenzie-Childs Melamine & Acrylic collection?

The new collection features six new designs that reimagine "beloved MacKenzie-Childs checks and motifs in fresh, vibrant ways,” the brand says.

The “sun-soaked” Watermelon design features plates and bowls with variegated pink-checked, seed-flecked centers; green-checked, rind-like outer rims; and black and white checks around the edges.

The “swirling” Marble Checks patterns are available in three different colors: pink, blue and green. They blend marble swirls with the brand’s iconic checks.

The “playful” Palm Springs design features colorful diamonds — pink, purple, red, green and blue — that may call to mind a court jester’s attire. Edged in grassy green, the pattern also features the brand’s trademark black-and-white checks.

The dishes in the Jamboree collection feature super-cheery multicolored checks and a rim of black-and-white checks and swimming-pool blue.

What items are included in the MacKenzie-Childs Melamine & Acrylic collection?

The entire indoor-outdoor collection amounts to more than 60 pieces of dinnerware, drinkware and serveware. Acrylic items include pitchers, tumblers, and water and wine goblets. Melamine items such as dinner and salad plates, small bowls, large serving bowls and serving platters are available in each of the collection’s six designs.

Although you can commit to one pattern, they’re designed to complement each other.

“It’s easy to mix, match and layer to build your collection, infusing every meal with color, pattern and seasonal joy,” the brand says.
