Sleeping With Sharks

This bright and boisterous kids’ bedroom brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "sleeping with the fishes." Crisp, white shiplap wraps the walls and serves as backdrop to two, minimalist style twin beds at the center of the room. Six vibrant and smiling shark heads swim above the twin beds and pack a punch of youthful color in the design.

Focal Point

The oversized marlin string art piece makes a splash on the walls of this aqua guest bathroom. The white backdrop and pale blue string complements the airy design and brings a modern oceanic touch to the washroom design.

Jaw-Dropping Details

A toothy shark juts out of the wall in this kids' space and brings a touch of fun to the workstation in the navy bunk room. The four beds sport pops of turquoise and lime green to enhance the coastal appeal of the design and enliven the otherwise deep blue scene.

Elevated Appeal

Interior designer James Farmer swapped the expected aqua hues for an equally striking, sun-kissed and sandy color palette in this texture rich coastal living room. The traditional design features a backdrop of warm, natural grasscloth wallpaper and three bamboo étagère bookcases at the center of room. The shelves are lined with tchotchkes and layered with interest, showcasing a curated collection of heirloom porcelain, glass buoys, leather-bound books, shells and coral. Tropical bird prints flank the shelves adding color and a dazzling mahi mahi leaps overhead to crown the display.

Coastal Conversation Piece

An expansive contemporary dining table offers diners unmatched marina views from the floor-to-ceiling windows in this modern oceanfront home. Indoors, a custom fish-clad stone plaque crowns the grand shiplap fireplace and serves as a conversation piece during dinner parties.

Nautical Nod

A statement wall of shimmering, Mediterranean herringbone tiles mirrors the sparkling sea view beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows of this Newport Beach home. Honey-hued wood shelving and cabinets flank the rich teal tile wall and offer ample space for bookcase styling. A single wooden fish blends into a collection of vibrant books and glass vases on the shelves and serves as a nod to the nautical locale without overpowering the design.

Whale of a Time

Nautical navy meets millennial pink in this cheerful, coastal bedroom. A navy headboard, octopus print and a pair of silk lamp shades provide a sophisticated contrast to the vibrant walls. The touches of navy anchor the otherwise light and youthful design. A whimsical whale swims overhead and matches the white bedding, bedside tables and lamp bases below.

Fish Out of Water

A school of fish (artwork!) frames the wood and metal potting station in this contemporary garage. The sea-inspired gallery wall boasts a collection of blue fish prints, encased in nickel frames, to elevate the workspace and bring a healthy dose of coastal charm to life’s muddiest moments.

Diving Details

A pair of tails salute and make a splash on the coffee table in this cozy coastal living room. Do the tails belong to dolphin duo? A couple of jovial whales? Or a fearsome fish duo with somewhere between 7 and 50 rows of teeth? We’ll let you decide.

Breezy and Beachy

This striking design by Casabella Interiors has all the makings of a classic, coastal outdoor living space. The space is anchored by a textured jute area rug to rid toes of all the sand before heading indoors. A skirted sofa with coral clad pillows sits opposite twin navy armchairs offering ample space for breezy, beachfront conversation. A patinaed lantern illuminates the covered porch from overhead and a darling wooden fish adds a tasteful touch of beachy flair on the side table.

Striking Headboard

A grand marlin hovers over the bed in this traditional vacation home. The planked walls are painted an earthy olive hue contrasted by white wainscoting and stained wood doors. The finishes and upholstery featured throughout the space are understated and fresh, allowing the breathtaking fish to serve as the soaring focal point of the design.

Seaside Greeting

A brilliant turquoise painting, a fluffy pup and a grouping of stone fish figurines offer guests a friendly greeting in this coastal foyer. The sea theme continues throughout the waterfront home and no detail is left untouched. Case in point: the custom air vents meticulously crafted to look like fish scales.

Awash With Color

Fish both big and small wrap this washroom with bright color and coastal whimsy. The beachy touches continue throughout with a porthole vanity mirror, a rattan Roman shade and a sandy stone vessel sink.

Serene Surroundings

The designers at Casabella Interiors master the art of elegance in this fish-clad family room. White walls, airy upholstery and touches of pale blue give the room an inviting and universal appeal. A pair of custom built-in bookcases with cabinet bases flank the classic white fireplace at the center of the room. The upper shelves bring dimension and interest to the design, with a curated collection of oceanic accents, including two metallic fish figurines, natural coral and a set of coastal marsh landscape paintings.

Splashy Design

Wallpaper featuring schools of fish suit the crisp contemporary design of this kid's bathroom swimmingly. The shower sports classic white subway tile and the poplar floor is painted white.

Catch of the Day

Fresh fish is never in shortage in this effervescent eat-in kitchen. A custom, oversized painting features a sprawling fish painted in eye-catching hues including mint, coral and blue. Bold and boxy serif lettering gives the signage a retro flair and packs the space with undeniable waterfront charm.

Fancy Fish

A group of fancy, foiled fish lead the way upstairs in this playful home. A sandy grasscloth wallpaper lines the staircase with texture and warmth while a pillow-clad bench offers a cozy spot to slip on some shoes before heading out to the shore.

Shark Sighting

A shark plank art project adds fierce maritime style to this kids’ bedroom. The natural wood tone pairs swimmingly with the deep blue walls and a nautical-inspired, bronze table lamp brightens the bedroom for late night reading.

Maritime Stairway

Teal grasscloth wallpaper accentuates the height and angle of the stairway in this coastal abode. The jewel-tone walls provide texture and serve as a dramatic backdrop to a group of five life-sized fish. Sand-stained stair railing complements the sea-inspired wall and a sundrenched beach photograph dresses the adjacent white wall, tying all the elements together.

Deep Blue Dreams

This blue and white bedroom features fish-clad window treatments to inspire guests to take a dip in the pool that awaits beyond the glass door. The drapery fabric creates a sense of motion and dimension in the design, and achieves a sophisticated look with a playful spirit.
