How to Make an Easy DIY Outdoor Movie Screen
Transform your backyard into an open-air movie theater with this easy DIY screen made from PVC pipes and a white sheet.
Materials Needed
- 2 planters
- 2 PVC pipes
- 2 wooden rods
- glue gun
- duct tape
- scissors
- 2 screws hooks
- cement mix
- decorative pebbles
- white sheet
- iron
Fill Planters With Cement
Fill two planters about 2/3 of the way with cement mix.
Insert Wood Rods
Place your wood rods in the center of each planter and use duct tape to secure them in place.
Mix Cement
Add water to the cement mix and let set for several hours until it is hardened.
Insert Pipe Into Sheet
Insert one PVC pipe into the top fold of your sheet.
Glue Sheet Over Second Pipe
Take your second PVC pipe and lay it on the bottom of your sheet to measure enough sheet to cover the pipe.
Cover the pipe with just enough sheet to make a sleeve.
Use your hot glue gun to attach the bottom of your sheet to the PVC pipe. The bottom pipe with help weight the sheet and make your movie screen tight.
Iron the Sheet
Iron your movie screen so all of the wrinkles are gone.
Add Hooks to Posts
Insert the screw hooks close to the top of your wooden rods to hold the top of your screen.
Hang Your Screen
Insert both ends of your top pipe into the screw hooks and lower your screen.
Decorate
Add pebbles to your planters to cover the concrete.
Surround the planters with potted plants for natural color, and add simple paper flags above the screen for a festive touch.
Host a Movie Night
Cozy up your outdoor chairs with pillows and throws. You can even bring the cushions from your indoor couch outside for additional seating. Don't forget the popcorn!
