Craft a Breezy Coastal Wreath

Braid Rope

Using heavy-duty shears, cut the jute rope into three 15 foot sections. To avoid the rope unraveling at the ends, wrap each tip (top and bottom) with clear tape. Secure all three sections together with twine before braiding (Image 1). Next, braid the rope together, pulling tightly as you go (Image 2). Secure the end of the completed braid with more twine (Image 3).

Attach to Wreath Form

Begin by placing the braided rope onto the wreath form. Hot glue the braid in multiple spots onto the form (Image 1). Note: This step is not to hold the rope in place — the hot glue acts as a temporary fastener while you work and twist the braid. Continue layering and hot gluing the braid for two layers, ensuring the wire form is completely covered. Tie the braid onto the form permanently with twine (Image 2).

Add Greenery

Cover the bulk of the start and end points of the braid (the clear tape, extra twine, etc.) with greenery. Using wire cutters, snip sections of faux greenery. For this project, we’ve used a wispy, beachy greenery for an airy look. Place the greenery in opposite directions, crossing at the middle. Secure the greenery onto the rope by tying the stems with twine for extra support.

Add Coastal Accents

For larger accents that won’t stay put with glue — like starfish — fasten onto the wreath with twine. Begin layering the shells and starfish, placing on the wreath before gluing to see what looks and works best. Using industrial-strength glue, attach the pieces into place (Image 1). Note: Industrial-strength glue will adhere shells and starfish more securely than hot glue. Allow the glue to dry. For added texture, hot glue in a second variety of greenery and nautical netting throughout the design (Image 2).

Display Indoors or Out

To tie the theme together, braid three pieces of twine to form a hanger. Loop the twine over the wreath's top and hang for breezy, coastal decor no matter where you live.
