Materials Needed

  • 2-3 pip berry stems of each color (red, cream and blue)
  • wooden craft stars in assorted sizes
  • 14" grapevine wreath
  • wire cutters
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • white spray paint

Add Pip Berry Stems

Using wire cutters or shears, cut the pip berry stems into approximately 10-12” sections. Begin by adding a dollop of hot glue onto the end of the stem, then tuck it into the grapevine, tucking the ends all the way into the wreath (Image 1). Overlap multiple stems of the same color before moving on to the next (Image 2). Continue in a red, white and blue pattern along the entire wreath. Here, we’ve create two red, two white and two blue sections (Image 3).

Paint Stars

Using a drop cloth or old sheet to protect the work surface, spray paint the stars until they are fully covered in white (this may take a few coats). For best results, use a paint-and-primer-in-one. Let the paint dry completely.

Add Stars

Make a rough design plan on your wreath by placing the stars in a pattern you like before gluing. For this design, we focused the stars on the upper left corner to resemble the American flag. For added texture, nestle a few stars into the grapevine as well as on top of the grapevine. Once you've decided on placement, attach with hot glue.
