Blue Coat Rack With Mirror
A paint job and new hardware — including more hooks and an accordion-arm mirror — transforms this coat rack and ensures you never forget anything at home.

Materials Needed:
- screwdriver
- wood filler
- medium-grit sandpaper
- paintbrush
- acrylic primer
- latex paint
- wood drapery finial
- 4 coat hooks
- 4 pivoting hooks
- accordion-arm mirror
Step 1
Remove the old hooks. Fill any holes with wood filler. Let dry. Sand the coatrack to smooth out the wood filler and remove any old paint or varnish.
Step 2
Prime and let dry, then paint the entire piece — we used Lagoon by Martha Stewart Living Paint — and let dry. Use a brush that's smaller than the width of the coatrack to make the paint easy to control. Prime and paint the drapery finial. Let dry, then screw to the top of the coatrack.
Step 3
Screw in the new hardware, placing the coat hooks at the top of the coatrack and the pivoting hooks in the middle. Attach an accordion-arm mirror between the hooks.
