Materials Needed
- 1x4 pine board cut to desired length (ours was cut to 42”)
- desired paint or stain
- 2” angled-sash paintbrush
- 120-grit sandpaper
- 5) 2” self-boring wood screws and matching driver bit
- 10) 1/4” washers
- 5) 1/4’ x 3/8” x 3/4” steel spacers
- 5 old spigot handles
- drill
- measuring tape
- pencil
- hardware for hanging towel rack
Paint Board
Paint or stain board in desired finish (Image 1). Lightly sand, if necessary, to smooth out finish (Image 2).

Step 1: Board Prep
Lightly sand the board, if necessary, to smooth out finish.

Determine Hook Placement
Find center point of board with a measuring tape and mark with pencil. Evenly space out remaining 4 hooks, making sure marks are evenly spaced from top to bottom as well. Tip: On a 42” board, the hooks were placed every 7 inches.

Create Spigot Hooks
To create hooks out of the spigot handles, assemble in the following order – place washer on top of steel spacer and set spigot handle on top of that. Thread screw through a second washer and insert through spigot handle, first washer and steel spacer (Image 1). Place screw tip on pencil mark and drive self-boring screw in with a drill (Image 2). Repeat with four other spigot handles.

Step 3: Create Spigot Hooks
To create hooks out of the spigot handles, assemble in the following order – place washer on top of steel spacer and set spigot handle on top of that. Thread screw through a second washer and insert through spigot handle, first washer, and steel spacer.

Place screw tip on pencil mark and drive self-boring screw in with a drill. Repeat with four other spigot handles. Hang on wall by nailing or screwing into studs or by installing d-rings on back of board.
