Southern Style
Bold Personality
The massive museum-like gallery wall adds bold personality, color and local flavor to an otherwise large plain wall in the stairwell. “The idea was to introduce color with art, but let the majority of the house be a bit more on the neutral or even the warm and cozy side,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.
Enjoy the View
Over the staircase and gallery wall, a beautiful bank of deck mounted fixed skylights and electric “fresh air” vented skylights provide a dramatic view of the Nashville sky above.
Popular Feature
The bank of skylights makes a huge statement in this contemporary home that was built from the ground up. “I think that is going to be one of the most popular things in the house because it looks so architectural, and it’s a game changer because it floods the whole house with light,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn
Music Mecca
A bass guitar and ukulele on the gallery wall are a nod to the popular tunes that have made Nashville such a music mecca, with well-respected venues and lots of Southern hospitality.
Tucked Away
Located at the top of the stairs, the laundry room sits in a tucked away spot. “It would otherwise just kind of be unused,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.
Deep Blue Hue
Dark moody blue walls add personality to this efficient laundry room, with an indigo tufted rug that adds a touch of pattern over the floor. An attractive curved metal top mirror with a gold finish decorates the wall by the laundry room entrance.
Stylish Vanity
The 36-inch white vanity with tapered legs and symmetrical design includes a spacious cabinet with polished chrome pulls, and a full-extension drawer with soft-close side-mount slides. A handy open shelf on the bottom of the vanity holds bins that offer quick access to laundry room essentials.
Extra Storage
Above the vanity, rustic black wall mounted floating shelves create extra storage space for laundry products and folded towels.
Three-Function Faucet
The vanity sink includes a sophisticated pull-down single handle kitchen faucet, with a polished chrome finish. The faucet’s three-function pull-down spray head allows you to switch between aerated stream, ring spray, and Boost technology (that increases the flow rate by 30 percent) with the simple press of a button.
Advanced Fabric Care
A 27-inch front load washer with center control and electric dryer in Black Steel have a sleek and streamlined look. These first-class appliances have built-in intelligence for advanced fabric care, that takes out the guesswork when doing laundry.
Private Escape
A paneled door off the second-floor landing leads to the private main bedroom with cozy outdoor balcony, and the spacious main bathroom with a wet room and dramatic skylights.
Celebrating Country Music
On the landing, a pair of modern black-and-white upholstered benches with metal legs sit under a collection of country music-inspired photography by lifestyle photographer Kelly Christine Sutton. Sutton has a big following on social media, and happens to be the younger sister of country music singer Kacey Musgraves.
Easy Layout
Across the landing from the main bedroom and main bathroom, a doorway opens to a vestibule that connects to the moody green guest bedroom, super neutral rust guest bedroom, and the clean and contemporary guest bathroom.
Piece of History
A shadow box included with the gallery wall holds an old door handle from the original structure of the house. “It was structurally unsound, and there was no way to make use of that without doing something taller and skinnier,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn. “We kept that and put it in a shadow box.”
