"As kids, Jonathan, JD and I would always try to create something unique for Mom at Mother's Day: Make her a handmade pop-up card, write her a song about how she's number one, or we'd act out goofy little plays that have nothing to do with anything, but she'd always made us feel great for being creative. Even though it was Mother's Day and we would bend over backwards to do things for our mom, she would always find a way to turn it around and do things for us. She would cook us these amazing breakfasts, take us out to dinner at our favorite restaurant and even take us for fun outings at the zoo, park or circus. Our mom would always say, 'Mother's Day is my chance to show you boys how much I love you.'"

"We are so lucky and grateful to have Nana, and for as long as we can remember, we have always celebrated Mother's Day by getting lunch and going shopping together. This quality time of us all getting together is so special and times that we always cherish! For our own families, we are still all about quality time together. It might look slightly different every year, but we love just having a day with our boys. One of our favorite memories is our boys going out and picking out flowers that they could plant at each of our homes. We spent the day together playing in the garden, and watching the flowers grow was a sweet continual reminder of the gift our boys gave us!"

"My fondest Mother’s Day memory is way back when my brother and I were three or four years old. We wanted to surprise my mom with a beautiful breakfast (it’s always been her favorite meal of the day), so we got up super early and found all the fixings for a feast. We cracked the eggs, layered the bacon out for sizzling and started to pour the orange juice. When my mom, groggy-eyed and confused, came out, she screamed hysterically. I mean like really loud! Noises that we had never even heard before … but it was when she burst into tears that my brother and I knew we had really pulled off something special. The word 'why' was uttered repeatedly. We soon realized it was because we had not prepared breakfast on the stove, but instead, the brand new couch. The runny eggs matched my mom's runny mascara. The shock soon passed, and she realized it was all done with good intentions — we'd been independent thinkers, to say the least. Now, I get happy — truly happy — seeing her laugh hysterically every time she recalls the story. Ahhh. Happy Mother's Day!"
Jasmine Roth, Help! I Wrecked My House
"Mother's Day 2020 has to be my most memorable mother's day, but let's be honest, it was my first! We've always gone all out for my mom on Mother's Day, but having my own little girl and being the center of attention on Mother's Day — well, let's just say that it was all new. I had a 3-week old baby who, because of the pandemic, nobody other than Brett or myself had held. We were tired, happy and so in love. Did I mention we were tired? I'll never forget the sweetness that a newborn baby brought to our lives and the happiness she brought our entire family. Oh, and don't worry about my mom, she got to move to 'grandma status', which in her mind was the coolest Mother's Day gift yet."

"I grew up in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where single-level ranches with light and bright interiors are the norm. As far back as age 6, I remember thinking of how boring my friend's houses were and wanting to redo them myself. At 6, that was unlikely to happen. It probably stemmed from my mom always updating our house every two years or so with a new paint color, millwork tricks and new upholstery. The first thing I remember inspiring me to work in design was when our house was remodeled in 1993. A huge wall of 1970s-tastic cedar was lightened with a bleach treatment; the roof was replaced; new tile went down throughout the main areas; and all walls were painted white. That one small taste of design had me hooked. What's fascinating most about it is that I've gone the opposite direction of my mom: Bold colors are my norm and I barely even use white. Maybe I was adopted?"

"I always try to spend [Mother's Day] with Gram and Mom. They are always eager to join me on my projects and have been known to spoil my crew with banana bread, cookies and muffins."
