This Portable Fire Pit Magically Prevents Annoying Smoke
No more watery eyes or hair that smells like a campfire, thanks to this smokeless fire pit.
Hotdogs, s'mores and stories around the campfire can get ruined in an instant when a swarm of smoke blows your way. Even if it doesn’t catch you, just sitting near a fire pit means your clothes and hair will smell totally charred, but now there’s a fire pit on the market that is scientifically engineered to eliminate smoke. Yes, really. I’ve seen this smokeless fire pit in action, and my clothes were miraculously spared from that lingering campfire smell that requires multiple washes.
Meet the BioLite FirePit+. It may not be as pretty as designer patio pits, and it’s not necessarily the cheapest on the market at just under $250, but you’ll get more use out of this one as the unit is portable so you can take it with you on camping trips or use it for a beach bonfire on vacation. And most importantly, it has that magical ability to eliminate billowing smoke that I mentioned. How? Well, think of the BioLite just like any other smart appliance. It’s Bluetooth-enabled, and you can even control the flame strength right from your phone. But the real sorcery comes from the detachable fan pack. This advanced airflow system injects air via 51 internal jets throughout the fire pit to improve combustion and burn more matter quickly and efficiently. Translation: It produces less smoke than a conventional fire pit.
The BioLite is a more sustainable option than regular wood-burning fire pits, and you’ll save money on firewood, too, as the steel mesh chamber helps yield a longer burn time with less wood. The fan pack provides up to 24 hours of burning on a single charge. You can charge it via USB, but there’s also a solar-powered, waterproof carrying case that recharges the pack. If you plan on taking it camping, the case is a sound investment at less than $60.
In addition to the high-efficiency fire, the BioLite FirePit is great for grilling, too. The pit even comes with a grill grate for hibachi-style cooking and can work with coals or embers. We’re also a big fan of the BioLite CampStove 2.
