Designer Marianne Brown thought carefully about the space-planning of her kitchen to create a space for entertaining large groups of people, including plenty of space for prepping food.

A small, custom round island provides a handy space for prepping meals, without taking up a large footprint in their U-shaped kitchen. A mantel above the stove offers a place to rotate in artwork for display.

The fireplace wall in the dining area could not be moved, so Marianne had to work around the narrow space and U-shape layout of the kitchen.
