Designer Michelle Gage doubled the size of the kitchen island, putting cabinets on both sides to increase storage as well as countertop space. The seating that used to be in the room's center was shifted to a cozy, but unused bay window.

The kitchen is now a friendly spot for the whole family to gather with plenty of storage and a new breakfast nook. A petite round dining table and curved chairs are easy to walk around as one navigates from stove to kitchen island to dining area.

The kitchen had a charming bay window that wasn't well utilized in the space. Designer Michelle Gage had a banquette built beneath it so the area could become a light-filled breakfast nook. She papered walls with a small-scale pattern in blue to match the cabinetry, then piled the bench full of more whimsical, contrasting prints.

Black and white tiles liven up the kitchen floor. The bold graphic pattern smartly pairs with the cabinet's cheery turquoise.
