Resort-Style Pool Area

Lounge chairs fill several niches in this resort-style patio, providing a place for many guests to relax. A raised wading pool sits on one side of the pool and houses two chairs immersed in the water for an island getaway feel. The loggia area features a dining area for eight, as well as a large outdoor living area that surrounds an oversized limestone fireplace complete with a flat-panel TV. The glass tile in the pool interior reflects the water, while the LED lighting allows the homeowner to create different moods in the courtyard by altering the color of the light. Backyard Focal Point

Beating the Florida heat at HGTV Smart Home 2013 is a breeze. One of the home's defining features is its stunning outdoor swimming pool which features a jet propulsion system with a water treadmill, a murmuring fountain and color-changing lights for a beautiful nighttime experience.

Tuscan-Style Relaxation

A retaining wall houses this Tuscan-style pool area without obstructing the beautiful landscape view. Travertine tile complements the warm, rustic tone of the house and is cool to the touch during hot summer months. A round pavilion off the pool area provides a place to relax in the shade, and crepe myrtles and other lush plants add visual appeal. Design by Liquidscapes

Private Swim

More than just a stunning water feature, this narrow plunge pool and deck at HGTV Dream Home 2013 offers a private place to swim, sunbathe and relax with views of the South Carolina marshes.

Bold Focal Point

A vibrant red fireplace is the focal point of this colorful, contemporary backyard. The red and charcoal stucco fireplace features a mantel veneered in a gray stacked stone pattern for a dimensional look. The water features give the illusion that water is flowing into the pool from the upper deck, and the pool wall is made with four different tiles to add texture to the space. Design by Randy Angell

Italian-Style Lounging

Vibrant orange patio chairs bring a splash of color to this neutral Italian-style backyard. Lounge chairs are dispersed throughout the large patio to create a resort-style feel. A dominant water feature at one end of the pool makes a bold statement. Design by Thom Oppelt

Caribbean Contemporary

Landscape designer Jamie Durie installed this corner trellis to take advantage of every inch of space. The curved deck sits right at the edge of the pool, and floating benches allow for entertaining a large crowd. A planter box trailing across the fence blocks the harsh sun yet still catches the light. Ocean-colored pots tie in the color of the pool, and white poufs serve double duty as ottomans and pool toys.

Water Park at Home

This elaborate pool setup looks like a water park, but it's actually a backyard. The 45-foot pool slide adds a fun element to the yard for both kids and adults. The archways and stone and stucco elements bring visual appeal, while a fire pit and an outdoor kitchen make the space great for entertaining guests. Design by Scott Cohen
