Pirate Party Table Setting

If you’re looking for a party idea that’ll shiver your timbers, then this pirate-themed tablescape is the treasure you seek. From daring decor to plunder-worthy treats, we’ve got everything you need to transform your table into a swashbuckling scene. To get started, begin with a piece of burlap cloth that is large enough to drape over your table. Burlap is inexpensive and requires no sewing — the raw edges only add to the weathered island theme. Add a decorative fish net on top of the tablecloth for an authentic maritime look.

Swashbuckling Place Setting

Create a pirate-worthy place setting for not a lot of loot. First, use 10-inch black dinner plates from your dishware collection, or purchase a few from a dollar store. Tuck a faux palm frond under each plate for a Treasure Island feel. Then, add a Jolly Roger paper plate in the center of the black charger. Pirate-themed paper plates can be found at party supply shops and online. Use gold-colored flatware for that pirate treasure vibe. If you can’t find any, opt for recyclable, practical, eco-friendly disposable ones.

Nautical Napkin Rings

Pirate Map Table Decor

Add an adventurous touch to your table with a treasure map as a centerpiece. Simply spread it out in the center of the table as decoration. It’s fun for Halloween party guests to read all the imaginary places such as "Ghost’s Hills" and "Skull Rock." Pirate maps can be found at party supply shops and online, or if you’re feeling creative, sketch out your own map on a large sheet of poster board with sepia-tone-colored pencils.

Kraken Beverage Cooler

Beware the Kraken! A red toy octopus transforms a punch bowl into a Kraken-infested beverage cooler. Fill a large punch bowl with ice and your choice of bottled beverages. Nestle a toy octopus with poseable arms among the bottles, positioning some of the arms to coil around the bottlenecks. This Kraken-inspired cooler is both fun and functional.

Pirate’s Booty

Use plastic toy doubloons and craft jewels as treasure-themed table scatter straight out of a pirate's plunder. A compass and a spyglass will also help set the scene. No need to pay top dollar for authentic nautical navigation; a toy telescope and compass will complete the effect. These simple additions instantly evoke a sense of pirate adventure.

Message in a Bottle

Personalize your pirate party with message-in-a-bottle place cards that guests can take home as keepsakes. Small bottles with corks and quartz sand can be found at the craft store. To assemble them, fill small bottles with a little of the quartz sand. Print or write names on parchment paper and tear out each name with deckled edges. Then carefully place them inside the bottles using long tweezers. Cork the bottles and set one at each place setting for a personalized touch.

Handmade Loot Bags

Create loot bags filled with chocolate coins — perfect for guests to take home as a favor. Use black acrylic paint to create track marks on small drawstring burlap bags. Then, with red acrylic paint, add an “X" over the marks. Once dry, fill the bags with gold foil-covered chocolate coins. Add one to each place setting, or hand them out as take-home favors at the end of the night.
