Boo! It’s Halloween season, at least from a merch perspective. Yes, true, it’s still July. But not for long. And then August will give way to September, which will lead to October — and before you know it, you’ll be trick-or-treating with the kids as they fill their bags with candy.

Or, maybe not bags. Maybe … buckets? How about an updated version of those Home Depot Halloween Buckets that went viral last year?

The Home Depot is bringing back its super popular Halloween Buckets — officially and for a limited time — for 2026. And this year, you don’t even have to contend with the home-project-addled drivers in the parking lot to get them; the buckets will be available for purchase online starting in mid-August.

What’s the deal with the Home Depot Halloween Buckets?

Last year, Home Depot’s 2-gallon Halloween Bucket went viral on social media, with multiple TikTokers racking up major views with videos extolling their virtues.

“You know how much candy these are going to hold?” one gushed. “That’s a win. The handle won’t break. But I was also thinking these would be really cute for a boo basket for your mans or your womans. Because these buckets, you know, they last a really long time from Home Depot.”

As a result of all the hoopla, the Halloween-decorated version of the Home Depot’s stalwart orange buckets surged in popularity.

“Girlies run to the Home Depot,” another TikToker urged.

People did rush to stores to buy them, but often found that they’d sold out.

So what’s happening with the Home Depot Halloween Buckets this year?

This year’s 2-gallon Home Depot Halloween Bucket features a new “collectible” design with ghosts, a full moon, jack-o-lanterns, a spooky house, spiders and the year 2026 written out on a spiderweb, along with the Home Depot logo.

“Perfect for trick-or-treating, these versatile buckets also have a life beyond Halloween, making them ideal for storing tools, organizing craft supplies, tackling DIY and home improvement projects, or seasonal decorating,” the brand says.

How can you get the 2026 Home Depot Halloween Buckets?

Priced at $2.98, the buckets are starting to land in stores and will continue to roll out through August, while supplies last. They will also, for the first time, be available online, starting in mid-August.

“With limited availability and strong consumer interest, the buckets are expected to be a sought-after item once again,” a Home Depot spokesperson says.

In fact, the social media buzz around the buckets as they show up in stores is already starting to build, with some posts racking up hundreds of thousands — and one even topping a million — views.

“Your sign to grab the Halloween 2026 buckets at Home Depot before they sell out,” one TikToker wrote.

“Grab your Halloween 2026 buckets before they are gone,” echoed another.

Don’t say you weren’t warned.
