I Tested Amazon's Best-Selling Automatic Pet Feeder
The Arf Pets automatic food dispenser is top-rated with more than 50 percent of reviewers giving it five-stars. So, did it live up to the hype? Read on to find out.

We're all a little lazy.
I especially excel at shirking responsibilities that are either a) not within my skill set or b) unrelated to the immediate need of my one-year-old. It pains me to admit that feeding my two dogs is often the last task I do before leaving the house in the morning or settling in on the couch at night. If only the poor creatures weren't so darn patient, I might actually remember to feed them at a reasonable time.
When I tested the Arf Pets automatic food dispenser, one of my most-forgotten chores suddenly completed itself. As a busy, frazzled mom, I can tell you there is no greater joy than having a task crossed off your mental to-do list.
So, What Does It Do?
The Arf Pets food dispenser automatically feeds your pet up to four times a day. It features built-in portion sizes to easily control your pet's diet. The food compartment holds just over one gallon of dry food, and the lid magnetically locks in place to keep food safely out of paw's-reach. As a fun little bonus, you can record up to 10 seconds of a voice command that plays when food is dispensed.
After using the pet feeder for a month, I concluded that there's a lot to love about this little machine. Here are my thoughts on the best-selling automatic pet food dispenser on Amazon.
What I Liked
Obviously, the hands-off feeding experience was a huge perk. Once I programmed my dog's meal time and food serving size, that was it! My dog isn't a grazer, so I only used two of the four available feeding time slots. Even just removing manual feedings for one dog was a relief.
The food compartment is large enough to hold enough dry food for my miniature dachshund for a month. The top latches securely, keeping curious pets from eating more than they should.
Batteries allow this gadget to be used anywhere. I liked having the option to move it to my dog's usual feeding spot. If you're truly dedicated to the hands-off feeding approach, you could even take this feeder on the road with you. And if you want to avoid changing batteries, the feeder also plugs into the wall.

What I Didn't Like
While the dispenser comes with some great little features, I didn't use the voice recording function. My dogs go straight for food even when they shouldn't. They certainly wouldn't wait for a command to eat from their bowl. (Am I a bad pet parent? Don't answer that.)
As I mentioned before, I have two dogs, so I only tested the pet feeder with one of them. If you have multiple pets or pets who are food-aggressive or jealous, you might need to purchase two of these feeders which is $$$. Because my dogs are used to eating in their own area (one outside, one inside), I didn't have issues with testing, but it meant I still had to manually feed my other dog.
The beeping sound when programming feedings. I could really do without the sound effects. Maybe I'm too sensitive, but it felt like an unnecessary feature.

The Takeaway
Overall, I enjoyed testing this product. I think it's a great purchase for households with a single pet and for those with a busy family life. Cat owners who travel frequently won't have to worry about their precious felines running out of food.
But, if you go out of town with your pet, remember to turn off the feeder.😜
