Modern Makeover for Colonial Home
This Colonial home felt trapped in the past, with dark wood cabinets, brick fireplaces and other details weighing the design down. To bring the space into the present, Susan Jamieson lightened the kitchen with a mix of gray cabinets and open shelving, refinished the fireplaces and pulled in pretty pendant lights and colorful, contemporary furnishings.

Fresh, Clean Kitchen with Whimsical Pendants
To update a dark and dated kitchen, the space was opened up into the adjoining sunroom, expanding the space and introducing plenty of natural light. Color and whimsy are added via bright glass orb pendant lights and yellow chair cushions that really pop.

Colorful Pendants Light Up This Kitchen Island
This kitchen has plenty of space for prep, serving and seating. With clean, fresh cabinets, a well-placed island and mod table for family meals, this kitchen is the perfect recipe for a family who cooks and entertains frequently.
The kitchen island has a stainless steel base and is lit by colorful glass orb pendants. Designers used balloons to get the positioning just right.

Light-Filled Sunroom with Backyard Views
Opening this sunroom to the kitchen floods both spaces with natural light. Ombre curtains coordinate with the waterfall coffee table painted in Bridget Beari Colors high gloss Petula. The cozy white sofa allows for comfy viewing of the backyard.
Designer Susan Jamieson explains "painting the door frames black keeps the eye moving and expands the view to see beyond the architecture to the outdoors".

Happy Living Room in Orange and Pink
Fresh pink patterned drapery, a stunning wool Moroccan area rug and a modernized mantel make this living room a happy and elegant conversation space. Originally a colonial style mantel, the new look was achieved with drywall and beautiful bright white plaster, which reflects natural light into the room and creates a fresh and modern feel. Designers emphasized the area with a chocolate brown accent wall above. Flanking the mantel with matching cabinets brings balance and adds storage.

Powder Room with Mixed Patterns
This small powder room has big personality. The floating vanity opens up the space and allows the eye to move easily and enjoy the chic chevron flooring. The wallpaper's vertical pattern moves the eye up which makes the room appear larger. According to designer Susan Jamieson "the wallpaper looks like porcupine quills and is a playful and perfect juxtaposition to the chevron floor. It's really okay to mix patterns in small spaces as long as you create visual balance and keep the eye moving."

Family Room with Large Fireplace and Bar
Replacing the heavy brick mantel with a hand-carved washed wood mantel and ledge stone hearth creates a contemporary, cozy and inviting room. A quatrefoil window was added to create visual interest while bringing in another natural light source. A stylish bar is perfect for entertaining and the bar top repeats the ledge stone from the fireplace mantel creating visual continuity and connectivity. The lucite barstool backs keep it light and allow the eye to move easily throughout the space. A blue sectional and comfy club chairs are perfect for entertaining or snuggling.

Functional, Yet Stylish Bar
Part of the family room, this bar had to be both fully functional but also still tie in aesthetically with the rest of the space. Recyled glass/concrete countertops and an antique glass backsplash adds loads of visual interest as well as durability. The bar top matches the rooms fireplace ledge, connecting the spaces beautifully. Lucite barstool backs keep it light and allows the eye to move easily throughout the space.

Sophisticated Master Bath with Dual Sinks and Dressing Table
Two separate spaces were combined into this spacious two-person bathroom that incorporates only what is truly needed - a clutter-free, sophisticated and purposeful space. Dark wood vanities, marble countertops and a floor rug add weight to the white space. The dressing table mirror was suspended with chains over the window, creating privacy while still allowing natural light to filter in.

Dark cabinets with a marble top stand out against stark white walls in this sophisticated master bath oasis. Given the lack of wall space, the dressing table mirror was suspended with chains over the window, creating privacy while still allowing natural light to filter in.
