TikTok Has Changed the Home Design Game
TikTok is the place to find out about home design trends and to get decorating ideas and inspiration. From grandmillennial style to maximalist design, the platform is changing how people see their own home style. Even big-box stores are looking to TikTok to find upcoming trends and are curating their product lines to reflect what they see. There are many interior designers and stylists with a huge following on TikTok. We rounded up a few of our favorite TikTok home design influencers who have done a fantastic job taking on the current design trends and inspiring others on the platform.

Jaclyn Harper @jaclynhdesigns
Jaclyn's design style is all about natural textures, modern elements and eclectic details — a combo that can make any space feel serene and welcoming. This Scandinavian-style breakfast nook is a prime example of that with its warm burnt orange hues, earthy tones, natural wood, soft white walls and clear glass surfaces. Jaclyn aims to create spaces with both a casual and cozy feel — something busy families can love about their homes, especially those looking to design on a budget. "We love mixing high and low items to make design affordable for our clients," says Jacyln.

Jaclyn is no stranger to HGTV. She styled and photographed for the Property Brothers show, Buying & Selling, and served as production designer for Project Bakeover on the Food Network. With 153,000 followers on the platform, Jaclyn thinks TikTok is a great way to connect with people who have never seen her work before. "I'm known for teaching people 'what not to do' when it comes to design and decorating," explains Jaclyn. "I also share tips and tricks and recent reveals."

Emily Shaw @emilyrayna
Emily has captured the essence of one of today’s hottest trends – bold-colored geometrics. We love the way she used shapes and colors to make this room feel large than life in true maximalist fashion. Emily says she loves to play with color whenever possible as seen here with her oval orange sofa and circular royal-blue headboard. Her personal style is a mixture of midcentury modern, industrial, eclectic and contemporary.

With Emily, bright colors are a must-have in her interior designs. As a recent graduate with a BFA in interior design and architecture, Emily has become a force in connecting a younger generation to attainable interior design. It's no wonder — with 5.4 million followers, she has created a viral empire of unique DIYs and home renovations, like the coffee table in the center of the room she designed and built. "My TikTok is a place to explore all of the different design styles because each person and their space is incredibly unique. I love to educate about quality choices within each style to help my audience find what is right for them," she said.

Kyla Herbes @houseofhipsters
We love the way Kyla used varying design elements and patterns to create this chic powder room. The whimsical wallpaper covered in bold botanicals and woodland critters pairs beautifully with the geometric floor tile, antique vanity and gilded mirror. When in doubt, take a cue from Kyla for decorating a small bathroom — bold is better!

Kyla Herbes @houseofhipsters
Kyla's House of Hipster blog — which she started in 2017 — is chock full of DIYs, decorating ideas, fashion trends and even cocktail recipes. On TikTok, she shares with her 356,000 followers her latest thrifting finds, shopping scores and styling tricks. And whenever possible, she’ll tell you where you can buy the exact same piece and how to incorporate it in your home. (We love the melting disco ball!) Despite not having formal training in interior design, Kyla has a knack for creating beautiful blends of patterns and colors. Her style of contemporary eclectic comes from mixing vintage art and lighting with modern furniture and hardware.

Justin Miller @mitzermiller
We adore Justin’s modern gallery wall mixed with the jet-black antique fireplace, traditional rugs and rattan chairs – and of course, the very cool upcycled-drum side table. To create his wall, Justin combined mementos from his childhood and travels with unique artwork. His collection includes a vintage Beatles poster, a charcoal drawing he made in the first grade and a "Nachos" sign from an old concession stand in Texas that he got at a flea market. We also are smitten with the way Justin cleverly installed molding to outline his gallery wall into different sections. By doing this, the eye has a place to rest when it is scanning the expansive wall so you’re more likely to notice each individual piece. Plus, the molding also adds more texture and personality to the room.

Justin Miller @mitzermiller
Justin describes his design style as eclectic, maximalist and artful. "I want my house to feel really collected and traveled instead of looking like a thrift store exploded on it, or I raided my grandma's house," said Justin. Most of his decor is thrifted, antique or vintage, and Justin has a real flair for bringing it all together. He believes that DIY doesn't have to equal cheap or lackluster. His 136,000 followers tune into TikTok to see Justin’s floral arrangements, painting projects, holiday decor ideas, budget decorating hacks and to watch as he transforms things that have been thrown to the curb into works of art.

Cliff Tan @dearmodern
Cliff is an architect with more than 15 years of experience whose specialty is feng shui and spatial planning. His TikTok is not so much about decorating, it’s about helping people lay out their space for the best use and flow. Cliff is a master at making the most of small spaces. In his videos, he often uses tiny Lego-sized furniture to demonstrate good feng shui — such as the sofa should face the door so it welcomes you with open arms. Cliff doesn’t push his clients toward buying new things, he uses furniture his clients already own and advises them on how to make the most of it. Cliff also shares tips on lighting, what type of artwork you should use and what shapes work best for good flow. We love this all-white modern living room focused on gentle curves and clean lines. The unique shapes of the furniture help the space maintain its personality in its minimalistic form.

Be Creative: Designer Tips on How to Add Feng Shui to Your Office Space
Cliff Tan @dearmodern
Cliff's videos have become a viral sensation on TikTok, garnering 1.7 million followers who love his feng shui home arrangements. "My approach is to help people with their existing furniture and to transform their spaces just by moving things around," said Cliff. "I suppose this is a very different approach to conventional interior design, though it's something that many 'average' people need and appreciate." His architectural practice is aimed at providing affordable advice to everyone, and he does it virtually, so he has clients all over the world. It's clear that his approach resonates on TikTok as well. Cliff's followers can find him directly responding to their requests to help change the layout of their rooms and tips to help maintain good feng shui. Oh, and we love his tagline: "So now you know."

Stefanie Bloom @beingtheblooms
Stefanie describes this entryway she designed as "colorful, renter-friendly and approachable," and we couldn't agree more. There is plenty of storage in the space, but it doesn't take away from the stylish appearance with its classic patterned rug and modern floor lamp. A trio of baskets tucked under the tufted bench, as well as two hanging baskets on the wall, keep the mudroom mess from being overwhelming. We love the use of style and function to maximize space while creating an open, airy feel.

Stefanie has taken TikTok by storm by providing users with renter-friendly design tips and tricks that prove that renting doesn't mean your style has to suffer. Her 1.7 million followers have watched her transform her space as well as provide product reviews and realistic DIY projects. As more and more Millennials and Gen-Z'ers continue to rent instead of buy, Stefanie's videos are a lifesaver for those looking to update their space without tearing out walls or putting down new floors. While Stefanie is buying a house, she promises her followers to still use design concepts that will let them get their security deposit back.
