Rebel Yellow
Bright colors abound in 2019 (hello, Living Coral), because Pinterest has spoken and yellow is taking off. But beware, it’s not just any old shade of yellow—searches for mustard yellow specifically have seen a 45 percent increase. Anything is game: Mustard yellow walls, accessories, upholstered furniture. Personally, we’re partial to a nice coat of mustard yellow paint.
Need inspo? No problem.
Textile Art
The movement away from shiny, metallic home decor continues. A textured, artsy aesthetic makes for a cozy, comfortable space. And believe it or not, the textile art options are endless.
Creative Cacti
Succulents were the indoor plant of 2018, and 2019 is poised to be no different. According to Pinterest, cactus arrangements are getting a lot of love lately. And with good reason—these cute, easy-maintenance plants can brighten up a room.
Obsessed with cacti? Say no more.
Fired Up
We love a good fireplace. They make for a warm place to cozy-up in the winter, but they’re also a great focal point for design. According to Pinterest, searches for contemporary fireplaces are up by 763 percent. So go ahead and dress up your fireplace—but why not make it modern-chic?
Bold Wallpaper
It might be time to ditch paint and go for wallpaper. Searches for bold print wallpaper are up 404 percent. We’re talking tropical leaves, bright prints and cheery colors. Try these patterns out in smaller spaces (like a powder room) or create your own accent wall.
Geometric Paint
If you're looking for a paint refresh, however, colorful geometric patterns are the way to go. Wall treatments are the obvious choice, but why not spice up your furniture too?
"This is a fun way to use up leftover paint. You can preplan the design, but I made mine up as I went along. Starting in the top right corner, I taped off a triangle, did two coats, and pulled up the tape while the paint was still wet, for clean edges. I left a corner of the wood dresser untouched for a peekaboo effect. Patience is key! I waited till each section was completely dry before taping off the next one. This project took a weekend, mostly spent waiting for paint to dry." —Jelena Pticek, Poppyseed Creative Living, Toronto, Ontario

Vertical Gardens
It might be time to freshen up your space (indoor or outdoor) with some floor-to-ceiling greenery, because searches for vertical gardens are up by 287 percent.
Get creative. We’re talking vines, hanging plants, plants on shelves, or whatever you can think of. And this trend isn't just for those with a green thumb. Find some of our favorite home plant ideas here.
Painted Flooring
We're excited about this trend, especially because it's budget-friendly. Instead of splurging on new hardwood or tile, try painting over your existing floors. Pinterest suggests bold colors or mosaic patterns.
