The color black will always be a classic, but many almost-black colors create the same timeless vibe in your home. If you love black, but can't fully commit, try these colors instead.

Midnight Blue
This dining area features a unique wallpaper mural and a velvet banquette in a rich, midnight blue. The space is accented by lighter whites and natural elements like a bamboo lamp and shades and a graphic jute rug.
Chocolate Brown
The rich, chocolate brown grasscloth wallpaper brings loads of depth and warmth to this bedroom. Continuing the wallpaper on the other side of the closet helps pull the space together. The brown works great with the pops of color on the bed, including a deep blue and coral.
Deep Teal
This bathroom, painted in a dark, deep teal color, is a showstopper. Teal complements mixed wood and black elements and adds a refreshing look when paired with terra cotta tile.
Rusty Orange
It's hard not to be in awe of this completely unique, rusty orange stair runner. Using a vintage rug, Jennifer Harrison from Flea Market Fab created a bold focal point for her living room space. The rug under the sofa echoes the orange, while everything else in the room is calm and neutral.
Navy Blue
This sexy living room looks like a luxe hotel bar. The navy blue velvet sofa is a gorgeous focal point, and the dark wall color makes the space feel cozy. The variety of blue hues creates a chic, stylish space.
Hunter Green
With a faux fur throw and rich hunter green walls, this bedroom feels a bit like a sophisticated bachelor pad. Lighter elements, such as the creamy drapes, bedside tables and white bedding, offset the dark walls.
Ox Blood Red
This Southwestern-style chair shows us that a bold, ox blood red can work even in an outdoor space. Graphic pillows pick up the darker red color, and a lighter rug is the perfect complement.
Graphite Gray
This gorgeous, graphite gray patterned rug is the perfect dark element for this stylish sitting room designed by Jen Harrison from Flea Market Fab. The rug picks up the metallic details on the coffee table, and the pattern adds texture to the space.
Indigo Blue
Vintage indigo blue fabrics, like the textiles on this sofa, are another great almost-black option. These textiles have been around for a few decades and are made by African tribes who hand dye each piece and sew them together to create blankets and throws. Indigo blue pairs well with nearly any other color, as shown in this bright, eclectic space.
Cranberry
The master bedroom in HGTV's Dream Home 2011 features an unexpected, rich cranberry wall color. The dark color works great with the other wood elements in the room, as well as neutral items including the chair, rug, and bedding. The room feels like a warm cup of apple cider with a spicy cinnamon stick on the side.
Smoky Gray
Despite the darker colors featured, this dining room has a feeling of light airiness. The smoky gray rug, dark wood table and chairs, and light fixture are Team Almost-Black while the white walls and fluffy sheepskin easily manage to calm the space down and prevent it from feeling too heavy.
Dark Red
Dark red is a great deep shade if you want to bring some warmth into a space. The deep red rug and throw beautifully reflect the brown tones of the wood ceiling. Layering a darker rug over a lighter one, as A 1000x Better did in this bedroom, is another great trick for bringing balance to the space.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is not quite red and not quite orange, like the desk in this minimalist office from the A 1000x Better team. This shade works well with other warm colors. Light floors and walls balance everything out.
Black & White
Ok, so we know this one is cheating a little bit, but we love this color combo. If you love the idea of black, but you're not quite ready to go all in, consider something like this wallpaper. You still get the dark and moody effect of black, but the white keeps it from being too harsh.
