While a black kitchen island placed in an otherwise all-white kitchen is one contemporary kitchen design that's currently trending, the color also works surprisingly well as a complement to kitchens with warm wood cabinetry.
Similarly, a silky black stone (or stone-look) countertop is a nice foil to a light wood-colored island, just as a crisp, stark-white countertop would add a fabulous color pop above an all-black island base.
