5 Reasons Interior Designers Are Using the Color Teal

Los Angeles Interior designer Jessica McClendon, principal designer of Glamour Nest explains, "sometimes super modern or industrial spaces have the tendency to feel stark and/or nondescript. My client wanted to the space to feel more cozy and feminine, but also wanted it to feel cheerful while maintaining a bit of its modern feel. Teal, in my opinion, is all of these things!" The teal satin drapes and wall color bring a fun and vibrant feel to this industrial space.

Adding teal into your home design doesn't have to be overwhelming or intense. Designer Edyta Czajkowska of EDYTA & CO. located in Parkridge, Illinois explains, "while bold, teal can be such a soothing color when paired with the right colors—think soft creams, whites and light grays. In this home office, we wanted to create a tranquil atmosphere conducive to work, and including teal in the color palette did both."

Teal can be the perfect pop of color to a neutral space, bringing just the right amount of interest and energy. "Since the home has a mixture of warm woods and sleek stone surfaces, we wanted the color palette to add interest and create balance. Teal was the perfect accent color, and when paired with mustard, they united the sleek design elements with the subtle linen pillows and upholstery throughout," explains Dallas designer Abbey Fenimore of Studio Ten 25.

Teal is a hue that can bring a cheerful vibe into your space. Los Angeles interior designer Caitlin Murray with Black Lacquer Design says, "I decided to play with different shades of teal in this space since it’s a (somewhat sophisticated!) playroom in a home located near the beach. This hue inherently feels fluid and whimsical."
