HGTV Green Home 2009

Saving space, increasing yields and conserving water were at the top of the list when planning the backyard gardening space.

Fashioned to resemble the main house, the garage offers storage and space to park two full-size vehicles.

Bordered by sabal palms and a natural fence of drought-tolerant plantings, the backyard offers a private getaway spot.

An extension of the casual dining area, this outdoor room invites guests to relax and linger over morning coffee or after-dinner drinks.

A bright red and green color scheme and subtle seashell theme create an island-style home-away-from-home for visiting friends and family.

A hardworking laundry space, complete with Energy Star-rated appliances, serves as a family communication center.

Gold wall color paired with animal prints and upcycled furnishings tell an eco-friendly story in this laid-back gathering space.

A mermaid and seashell motif lends magic to a citrus-infused kids’ space designed by HGTV’s Sabrina Soto.

A small yet coastal-chic powder room – with close proximity to the kitchen, dining room and screened porch – echoes the tropical palette of the master suite.

White and creams punctuate the color scheme of this spa-like bathroom space, which serves the child’s and guest’s bedrooms.

A clean, uncluttered cooking space, with a nod to Asian design style, sparkles with glass tiles, quartz countertops and Energy-Star-rated appliances.

An oasis of calm, this casual-chic sleeping space features a soothing, sea-blue color palette and layers of luxe, organic fabrics.

Glass tile in a stunning sea blue serves as the inspiration for this spa-like space, complete with vintage-style soaking tub and glass-enclosed shower.

A bright and sunny space, ideal for casual gatherings, reflects the tropical locale with a palette of saturated citrus colors and locally sourced decor.

Neutral fabrics, classic furnishings and eco-accents combine to create a calm and relaxing gathering space.
