A fun faux polka-dot cowhide on top of the table and two hide rugs underneath bring a bit of Texas to this modern dining room with dramatic black walls and large eccentric artwork.

The pops of yellow used in the dining room help balance out the black walls that provide a dramatic backdrop for this bold space made for enjoying meals with family and friends.

The modern yet rustic chandelier, constructed from cast iron, over the dining table illuminates the space from above. The eye-catching light fixture with a blackened iron finish reflects the home’s interesting mix of contemporary and traditional design elements.

Large eccentric wall art decorates one wall of the dining room. More eccentric art sits on the opposite dining room wall, with large single-hung vinyl windows with energy-efficient insulating glass that overlook the home’s front yard on the wall in between.

A solid white six-person dining table with modern barrel-shaped chairs sits center stage in this stylish dining room. The contemporary table with clean, simple lines offers lots of legroom for guests.

The barrel-shaped dining chairs with wood legs upholstered in a soft butter-yellow fabric are comfortable and cozy, making them a great choice for this swank space made for enjoying leisurely meals.

The dining room’s white oak floor that coordinates with surrounding spaces includes light tones and a rich grain that works with a wide variety of colors and design details.

Three smaller-scale cube ottomans covered in a grid design fabric sit under large eccentric wall art on one wall of the dining room. The mobile ottomans offer “emergency seating” for extra-large gatherings at home.

This view from the dining room looking out to the entry shows the close proximity between the two spaces. While these areas of the home share a coordinated design scheme, the different wall colors help give each space a distinct feel and personality.

From the entry, the dramatic dining room with dark walls feels like a special destination that entices guests inside.

The location of the dining room works well with the rest of the home’s modern floor plan. “I like that it’s just steps away from the butler’s pantry that leads straight to the kitchen,” says project manager Scott Branscom.

The user-friendly floor plan for HGTV Smart Home 2019 creates good flow between the dining room and surrounding spaces, which helps makes both daily living and entertaining easy.

Even with a location just off the entry, the dining room feels like a tucked-away spot in the home. “It’s removed enough from the kitchen and living area, but you still have easy access,” says project manager Scott Branscom.

This look from inside the dining room shows the front entry on the right side, with the butler’s pantry and open kitchen straight ahead through a doorway.

The butler’s pantry, perfectly situated between the kitchen and dining room, with a top-notch wine refrigeration unit and a single-serve all-in-one coffeehouse brewer offers an easy way to serve a glass of wine before dinner or coffee with dessert, with storage space for entertaining supplies.

A 48-inch wine bottle rack next to an upper cabinet in the butler’s pantry offers another storage option for wine or bottles of sparkling water. The butler’s pantry backsplash with deep emerald hexagon ceramic tiles with white non-sanded grout coordinates with the backsplash in the kitchen.

A large collection of coffee pods in assorted flavors makes it easy to brew up a great cup of coffee for a lazy Sunday morning or after-dinner chat with friends.

A wood tray in the butler’s pantry includes a single-serve all-in-one coffeehouse brewer in a premium nickel finish, so you can serve fresh and delicious coffee, latte and cappuccino to your family and friends.

This look from the butler’s pantry shows the kitchen with breakfast area located just steps away. “A coffee bar in any home is a dream for me,” says designer Tiffany Brooks. “Even though it is a butler’s pantry, I made it into an example to encourage homeowners to use spaces as they live.”

The large scale of the modern wall art in the butler’s pantry makes a bold statement and brings contemporary style to the space.

Using the same white oak floor that flows from the butler’s pantry to the dining room and kitchen creates a cohesive look and great flow between spaces.
