Biggest Little Christmas Showdown
Christmas decor but make it tiny! HGTV’s latest competition series features talented miniaturists going head-to-head to design Christmas-inspired dollhouses. Each week, three teams of designers are judged on interpretation of theme, creativity and execution. Only one team takes home the grand prize of $50,000, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate all of their teeny tiny creations.
Click through to see what the designers came up with during week one and don’t forget to tune in to new episodes of Biggest Little Christmas Showdown Friday nights at 9|8c.
Family Beach House
Green Team brought to life this one-story miniature family beach home. Keeping in mind the judges, the mother-daughter duo made the roof removable to allow easy overhead access to the home's interior.
Mini Porch Goals
What’s a beach house without a front porch? We love the little floral print pillows, the realistic wood floor and the garland complete with LED lighting!
Brown Paper Packages
Green Team scored points with the judges for their tiny wrapped packages waiting by their beach house’s front door.
Indoor-Outdoor Dollhouse Living
Using a stencil, joint compound and earth tone paint colors, Green Team created realistic stone flooring seen here in their structure’s courtyard. The lounge chairs, refreshing beverages and flip flops are just some of the standout details.
Lived-In Living Room
Green Team wanted their house to feel lived in — and what better way to accomplish that than with a huge collection of books! Each individual book was made with folded cardboard and covered with a printed paper cover.
Big Little Christmas Dinner
Another way to make the space feel lived in? Fill the kitchen with food! Check out this tiny spread created by the Green Team. We spy cinnamon rolls and brownies!
Santa's Tiki Boat
Yellow Team went a totally different direction with their structure and created Santa’s Tiki Boat — a floating pontoon boat decked out for the holidays, complete with a Tiki bar and waterslide.
Welcome Aboard
Tiny leis and signs with Hawaiian greetings welcome visitors aboard Santa’s tiki boat. Peep the tiny mistletoe and tiki bar in the background with bottlecap barstools.
Tiny Cocktails + Cookies
Yellow Team paid close attention to detail by decking out this high top table with tiny tiki drinks and Christmas cookies. The napkin holder was made from wood, and the napkins with red and green tissue paper.
Oh Christmas Tree
A Christmas tree adorned with seashell ornaments sits on the deck of the pontoon boat.
Move Over Frosty
Two sandwomen styled after members of the Yellow Team welcome visitors aboard. Styrofoam balls covered in glue and sprinkled with sand helped make the sandwomen possible!
Aloha Abode
Red Team went for a more traditional dollhouse look with a large three-story structure they dubbed the Aloha Abode. To imitate traditional thatching one might find in tropical settings, Red Team used a gold tassel material for the roof.
Midcentury Minis
The interior featured midcentury modern furnishings throughout the living, dining and bedroom areas. Red Team focused on fun architectural elements like this custom spiral staircase.
Christmas Palm Tree
The third story loft featured a four-poster bamboo bed decked out with lights for the holidays. A large palm tree made of green feathers acted as the home’s Christmas tree.
