Bloomingdale's Launches a Luxe Pop-Up Shop Inspired by The Lion King
Curated by Florence Kasumba (aka Shenzi the hyena), Bloomingdale's pop-up shop, Style Kingdom, brings together an array of African artistry across brands that empower communities with items sourced from the African continent.
Twenty-five years after the release of the original animated film, Disney is reaching a whole new generation through their new live-action remake of The Lion King. With A-list stars like Beyonce, Donald Glover and Seth Rogen voicing the beloved film's characters, kids and adults alike have been counting down the days until the July 18th premiere. And even your favorite stores are getting in on the anniversary remake.
Now through September 2, Bloomingdale's is featuring a pop-up shop inspired by the classic film. Style Kingdom is the latest rendition of The Carousel at Bloomingdale's, a rotating pop-up shop driven by culturally relevant themes and merchandise hand-selected by guest curators. This time around, Florence Kasumba (the voice of Shenzi the hyena) serves as the guest curator. Kasumba tapped into her knowledge of the film and her love of African fashion to identify items that capture the spirit of the savanna. The shop features items sourced from multiple regions of the African continent as well as products featuring iconic characters and themes from the film.
