Contemporary Kitchen Is Heart of Family Home

An extra-long island with waterfall countertop is the star of this family-friendly, contemporary kitchen. By removing a wall, the designer opened up this space to the family room beyond, creating an open floor plan that invites people to gather. Cabinetry extends to the ceiling and throughout the breakfast space, maximizing storage. The globe-style pendants are by Arteriors.

Before the Transformation: A Dark, Dull Kitchen

Dark, dated finishes and a closed-off design resulted in a cramped kitchen that didn't function well for a young family.

Functional Kitchen With Contemporary Flair

Subtle variations in the tile backsplash complement the gray and white marble countertops in this airy, contemporary kitchen. The island sink is directly across from the cooktop and just steps from the fridge, creating an ideal work triangle. Unique globe pendants by Arteriors light up the island in style.

Contemporary Kitchen Features Trendy Appliances

Calcutta gold marble countertops and backsplash keep this kitchen looking bright and timeless. A contemporary touch is added by the glass and stainless steel range hood.

Breakfast Space for a Busy Family

Cabinetry extends into the angled breakfast nook of this contemporary kitchen, maximizing storage space and increasing function. Lighting in and under cabinets is another functional and stylish touch. An island featuring Calacatta gold marble countertops with waterfall sides offers added seating.

Contemporary Living Room Opens Up to Kitchen

The pantry wall was removed to open up the kitchen to the living room. A oversized sectional combines with a shag area rug to create a family-friendly, cozy living space.
