No Mantel? 5 Ways to Still Hang Stockings With Care
Don't let Santa pass you by just because you don't have a mantel. These creative alternatives are just the thing for a holly jolly Christmas.
These days, not all homes have fireplaces, so hanging the stockings by the chimney with care isn't always an easy feat. But don’t throw in the towel just yet! These five mantel alternatives will have you decking the halls in no time!
Racking Up Presents
Repurpose an old coat rack or put a new inexpensive coat rack to good use with a can of red spray paint. Don’t forget to top it off with a DIY “Santa Stop Here” sign so he knows where to go!
With a stained board, a few hooks and some photo clips, you can easily make a wall-mounted mantel alternative complete with a spot for family photos. The best part is, after Christmas, it doubles as a beautiful spot for coats and keys.
Climbing Down the Ladder
Turn up the charm by hanging stockings on an old wooden ladder. Garnish the top with some greenery and use the lower steps for milk and cookies.
Creeping Down the Stairs
If you don’t have a mantel, the next best thing may be a beautiful banister. Wrap with greenery and stagger stockings all the way down for the ultimate home-sweet-home feel.
How Lovely Are Thy Branches
Using a straight birch branch, screw two small circle hooks in the top and three (or however many are needed) in the bottom. Use the top two to attach yarn and hang it from the ceiling or wall. Drape greenery around the top hooks and hang the stockings from the bottom hooks for an adorable holiday accent piece.
