A Look Inside an HGTV Producer's Rustic-Glam Wedding

Mark, a video editor in Knoxville, Tennessee, proposed to Karen, a digital producer at HGTV, at the basketball stadium where they met. In true video editor fashion, Mark put together a beautiful clip of their closest family and friends shouting, “Say Yes!” She did, but before they lived happily ever after, they put together a picture-perfect wedding.

The wedding and reception took place at Ramble Creek in Athens, Tennessee. The picturesque estate is nestled in the East Tennessee Valley at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The property features a vineyard, pond, covered bridge, sweeping lawns and grand ceremony and reception areas. Dubbed “The Ramble," the custom venue provides over 8,000 square feet of space for the kitchen, bridal suite, groom’s quarters, cocktail room and grand hall.

The couple was engaged for three years and, at the very beginning, Karen’s father came up with the idea for an intimate wedding day breakfast between the two of them. Although he forgot about his idea by the time the wedding came along, Karen was able to surprise him with a sweet morning spread of their favorite dishes.

Of course, no breakfast spread is complete without morning beverages. Green tea for Karen, coffee for dad.

Karen and Mark wrote letters to her father to be opened at the big day breakfast. Tears flowed as he read the notes. "It's a moment I'll never forget," Karen said, "and a tradition I hope others add to their special days."

The bride and groom have a great sense of humor that they no doubt adopted from their respective parents. Karen’s dad would always joke with Mark that he would trade Karen for a six pack of beer, “No trade backs!” So, on the wedding day, Mark gifted her father with an eight-pack of their favorite brew with a note that read, “She’s at least worth eight!”

The photographers were with the bride all day to catch each beautiful moment, including this sweet shot of daughter and dad.

Before the chaos of the day began, the bride, man of honor and bridesmaids stayed cool in custom tees and shades, coffees in hand.

The bridesmaids picked their own, unique dresses in coordinating colors. Mark’s older sister and Karen’s best friend (or chosen big sister) both wore long dresses while the rest of the bridesmaids wore short ones.

Each bridesmaid sported a unique pair of nude-toned shoes to match their dresses.

Karen and her chosen big sister have always loved shoes, so it’s fitting that she bought Karen a pair of glamorous ivory heels to wear on her special day.

This wedding is full of personal touches, including the groom’s attire! The lovely couple are big Nintendo fans (more on that later), so Karen bought Mark these fun Link socks to wear with his tux.

With help from her florist, LB Floral, the couple chose blush-tone echeveria succulents for the boutonnieres. The gorgeous, neutral plant perfectly matches the garden-esque theme.

As we’ve seen, this wedding is jam-packed with personality and intimate details. Karen’s engagement ring, a classic beauty that imitates her great grandmother’s, is no exception.

We are in love with Karen’s gorgeous, romantic bouquet. The arrangement included spray roses that effortlessly fit the color scheme and blush-tone succulents that match the boutonnieres. The bouquet also included silver dollar eucalyptus, seeded eucalyptus, dusty miller, olive branch and gunni eucalyptus. “My only Bridezilla moment was when, a week out, I begged my florist to add succulents to my bouquet. I had to have them,” Karen said.

The ceremony and reception took place in the Grand Hall at Ramble Creek. The venue features a dozen domestic wood varieties, a soaring cathedral ceiling, clerestory windows and rustic cedar columns. All of those elements came together to form the dreamiest setting to say “I do.”

The Grand Hall includes towering cedar columns and lovely barn-inspired light fixtures that give the room a comfortable and romantic feel.

Metallic and gold vases adorned the grand French country-style fireplace. The floral arrangement matches the bride's bouquet: roses, silver dollar eucalyptus, seeded eucalyptus, dusty miller, olive branch and gunni eucalyptus.

While the bride and her besties got their hair and makeup done, they treated themselves to some well-deserved cocktails. Also, notice the bridesmaids’ gorgeous up-dos that contrast Karen’s elegant side-sweep hairstyle.

The beautiful off-the-shoulder sleeves of Karen’s gown were made from chiffon draping material from her aunt’s own wedding.

Karen’s aunt, a seamstress, also crafted her niece’s veil, making it her first time doing so. The bride’s family truly showed up and showed out!

Karen’s grandmother was with her every step of the way, helping style the bride on her big day. The lace-up corset on the back of her gown adds a glamorous touch to the already beautifully-detailed dress.

Karen gave thanks to her grandmother by gifting her a lovely corsage. Luckily, the photographer caught the beautiful moment.

Mark could hardly wait to get the first look at his beautiful bride on their big day. His simple and sleek suit complements Karen's gorgeous, classic gown.

Never miss a photo opportunity on your wedding day, especially if the venue features a vineyard. The photographer joined the lovely couple on the gorgeous grounds and snapped some beautiful pictures.

Karen and Mark asked their wedding guests for their autographs on a beautiful wooden sign handmade by Karen's dad. Framed directions next to the sign read, “Without you here, it would not be the same. Help us remember by signing your name.”

The couple honored family members that had passed with this thoughtful memory table. The framed sign reads, “In loving memory of those who are forever in our hearts today and always.”

Karen wanted to make sure those who couldn’t attend the wedding could still see her big day, so she asked a friend to live stream the entire event. Thanks to the internet, the couple can re-watch their big day whenever they want, from the guests’ perspective.

The couple asked loved ones whose marriages really touched them to give speeches at the ceremony. Just imagine the waterworks! The speeches offered advice for the future, but Karen’s favorite was from her grandmother, “Balance your valleys with your mountaintops.”

This wedding party was just that – a party!

The groom and his party are huge Pokémon fans, so he gifted them with Pokémon gym badges that they wore on the big day. These pins add a pop of color but don’t overpower the outfits. Plus, they’re adorable!

The venue featured gorgeous outdoor areas — the best natural photo-op spots. The couple took advantage of the sweeping lawn before taking pictures with their guests. Not pictured: Karen's man of honor running out of frame after fluffing her veil.

The newlyweds — self-proclaimed “Disney Dorks" — share a love for all things Disney. Karen truly looked like a princess with her glamorous hair and beautiful gown.

The kitchen prepared goodie bags packed with graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows for the guests to enjoy at the venue’s outdoor fire pit while the couple took pictures. Clearly, the kids loved it!

Along with Karen's dad, the couple crafted this simple and elegant seating chart display by adding chicken wire to the back of an upcycled barn window. Floral embellishments line the top and match the bridal party’s bouquets.

The newlyweds shared their first meal as a married couple with the best view of their family and friends. The sweetheart table setting included gold candle holders and greenery that matched the bouquets.

The father of the bride and the groom hand-crafted the table number frames out of reclaimed wood, adding chic country style to the reception decor.

The delicious vanilla bean cake was styled with roses, succulents and a sweet Minnie and Mickey Mouse cake topper that reflects the couple's love for all-things-Disney. While they were dating, Mark took Karen on her first trip to Disney World not knowing that, a few years later, they would return for their honeymoon.

The newlyweds cut and served their cake with an ornate knife and beautiful, personalized server.

Karen's cousin did all of the calligraphy for the wedding, including this sweet sign on the dessert table.

The dessert spread featured six trays of mouth-watering cupcakes that the bride and groom hand-selected. The flavors included carrot cake, almond, white chocolate raspberry, dole whip, apple spice and Mark’s favorite, German chocolate. Baker: Ramble Creek Cakes

DIY pros, the couple hand-stamped 120 dice bags for their guests to take home, a nod to their love of game nights.

At the ceremony, the father of the bride walked her down the aisle to an acoustic version of “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5. At the reception, the newlyweds shared their first dance to that same song. A little-known secret: Mark made sure that they took lessons before they danced in front of everyone.

Mark schemed with Karen’s best friend for a surprise gift that she didn't see coming at all. At the bachelor party, the groom and his party had practiced playing a special song, but their outfits were missing something…

Hats, of course! Mark had prepared the “Mario Kart Love Song” by Sam Hart for Karen and dressed the part. A favorite line from the song: “I'll pause this game, so our love will never end.”

Karen is a huge Bachelor and Bachelorette fan and always joked that she would dress up as a dolphin/shark at their wedding. She decided against it, but Mark’s groomsmen were more than happy to wear the costumes. They livened up the dancing and made it a night no one will forget.

With the help of a groomsman and long exposure, the photographer was able to pull off this dreamy, fairytale-inspired photo.
