Vinyl plank flooring is practical and user-friendly. The material is engineered to install directly over existing tile without any need for major tools. Once installed, it has the look and feel of true hardwood but with much more durability for handling heavy traffic from kids, pets and frequent guests.

Instead of the added expense of new cabinetry, consider painting your old cabinets by applying an even coat of high-gloss or oil-based paint using an HVLP sprayer. (You can rent this from your local home improvement store.)

Swapping out cabinetry hardware can either be quick or more time consuming. The quick solution is to choose knobs or pulls that will fit directly into the existing drilled holes. If you end up changing knobs out for handles, it's likely you'll have to fill the holes with wood filler first, then sand and prime before painting and installing the new hardware.
