User-Friendly Space

A straightforward layout and tons of storage makes the HGTV Dream Home 2020 kitchen user-friendly, and the perfect space for preparing meals and entertaining with ease.

Impressive Island

The roomy center island with the kitchen’s sleek undermount sink helps define work zones, with four stylish stools that provide seating for casual meals. Three blue three-light pendants above help illuminate this busy space in the home.

Tons of Storage

The floor-to-ceiling greige cabinets offer tons of storage, with crown molding on top for a finished look. The cabinets include a special finish with a stripe effect (also called dragging) that creates a soft natural striped texture.

Sleek Sink

The kitchen’s sleek white undermount sink with clean lines and a statement faucet sits center stage in the island, with plenty of counter space on each side.

Forward-Thinking Faucet

The sink’s advanced chrome faucet includes a magnetic docking pullout spray head and dual function toggle switch for steam and spray settings.

New Culinary Possibilities

A stainless steel smart oven and 30-inch double oven to the right of the cooktop opens up a world of new culinary possibilities with interchangeable attachments that enable grilling, stone cooking and steaming.

Pretty Jar Pendants

The three jar pendants above island with blue white enamel shades fit the breezy style of this coastal retreat, and pick up the blue details used in adjoining spaces.

Pattern and Texture

The backsplash behind the range includes navy-blue ceramic tiles in a herringbone pattern with a white grout. “They’re not perfect, so each one is slightly fatter or wider or more textured than the other,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Sit in Style

Plush stools with a curved back at the island provide comfortable seating for casual meals or visiting with the cook preparing the meal of the day.

Keeping Things Simple

The spacious island top and perimeter counters are made from a white solid surface material that offers durability and a clean and simple look that coordinates with the kitchen’s other classic blue and white details.

Big Surprise

The Carolina blue vertical-groove ceiling in the kitchen, dining room and great room adds a nice unexpected surprise and a soft touch of color that works well with the white walls. “Brian wanted to connect all those spaces together, so we made them all one color,” says build manager Scott Branscom.

Advanced Dishwasher

The kitchen’s advanced stainless dishwasher includes a special finish that keeps the exterior of the unit resistant to fingerprints and smudges, and an intuitive, one-touch feature that makes real-time cycle adjustments. A water sensor by the dishwasher, part of the home’s wireless security system, detects leaks and emits an audible alert to help prevent flood damage.

Keep Food Fresh

Located by the doorway to the walk-in pantry, the kitchen’s 36-inch-wide counter-depth French door stainless refrigerator offers a built-in look, with an interior water dispenser that provides easy access to filtered water. A temperature management system and a produce preserver that extends the life of fresh fruits and vegetables are two other key features.

Packed With Power

A powerful hood above the cooktop includes duel-level LED lighting, a recirculating option and advanced touch controls that make cleaning the air as simple as touching a button.

Within Arm’s Reach

A handy spice drawer by the cooktop makes it easy to find and keep favorite spices organized and within arm’s reach. Having all the spices on display also helps you avoid wasting money by not using spices buried in the back of a traditional cabinet.

Cook Up a Storm

The 36-inch stainless five-burner gas cooktop with griddle includes a permanent finish that makes it easy to wipe clean without harsh chemicals. Full-width cast iron grates enhance the beauty of the cooktop, and allow easy movement of cookware around the entire cooking surface.

Save Time

Spacious cabinets and drawers around the cooktop help you avoid repeated trips across the kitchen for supplies. “The centralized sink and dishwasher really help with cleaning, so you can cook and clean in one area,” says build manager Scott Branscom. “It’s very efficient.”

Organized Storage

Upper and lower cabinets by the 5-burner gas cooktop are ideal for storing items like wine glasses, daily dishes, baking dishes and other kitchen essentials. Handy baskets that slide underneath the shelves create extra storage space inside the cabinet.

Plenty of Room

This view between the back of the island and cooktop shows the spacious lanes created in this well-designed kitchen, made for preparing meals and entertaining.

Brew Up a Cup

A silver semi-automatic espresso machine on the kitchen counter makes it easy to create frothy coffeehouse style drinks without having to leave this stunning coastal property.

Coffee Time

A drawer with dividers under the espresso machine offers organized storage for cups and saucers, mugs and napkins. If guests stop by for a cup of coffee, this eliminates the hunt around the kitchen for supplies.

Buffet Space

Blue Roman shades on the windows that look out to the home’s garden entrance offer protection from the sun and privacy when desired, and coordinate with the blue ceramic tiles used for the kitchen’s backsplash. The spacious counter under the windows offers buffet space for entertaining. “There’s probably fourteen feet of unobstructed space to just lay out platters and drinks and cocktails for guests to enjoy,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Bake Up a Storm

A quality blue standing mixer on the kitchen counter gives the chance to create the freshest baked goods at home, from cookies and muffins to a special occasion birthday cake.

Dine in Style

This view from the kitchen shows the close proximity of the open dining room, which makes it easy to bring prepared dishes straight to the table for at-home meals with family and friends.

Refreshing Neutral

The kitchen’s handsome solid hardwood floor embraces the simple and understated beauty of Scandinavian style, offering a refreshing neutral that sets the stage for other design details in the room.

Gourmet Pantry

This open doorway leads from the kitchen into the spacious walk-in pantry, a room with the darkest wall color in the entire house. “It’s painted navy blue and that’s on purpose, because it gets a ton of natural light from a window that faces the front of the yard,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Special Destination

The white storage cabinets, drawers and open shelves in the pantry pop against the navy-blue walls that help define the space, and give the pantry contrast from the adjoining kitchen.

Tons of Storage

All kinds of storage tools are utilized in the large walk-in pantry, including these hanging racks on the navy-blue wall for cutting boards, utensils, towels and more.

Easy-Access Shelves

The pantry’s numerous open shelves offer easy-access storage for cannisters with dry goods, bottles of water, extra condiments, pasta sauces, and offer kitchen essentials. This orderly and stylish space helps keep kitchen counters free from clutter.

Grab and Go

The varying sizes of the pantry’s open shelves make them ideal for storing items like rolls of paper towels, with space for baskets for keeping smaller items organized. A roomy striped woven basket on the bottom can be used for storing large-sized items. This user-friendly set up means you can spot extra plates or wine glasses, without having to open lots of cabinets and drawers.

Central Location

This view from inside the pantry with the door open shows the hallway that connects the pantry with the kitchen, laundry room and mudroom and front entry of the home. A water shutoff for the home is the white box on the wall in this photo.

Attractive and Functional

The well-organized pantry, multipurpose center island, roomy counters and top-notch appliances are just some of the key features that make this attractive kitchen very functional.
