Edgy & Eclectic Living Room With Lilac Beams

When punk rock style meets craftsman architecture, the saucy design spawn is definitely something to write home about. So visitors take note: this edgy and eclectic interior by designer Caitlin Murray is in a league of its own.

Floral Wall Complements Lilac Ceiling Beams

Lilac paint is like a jolt to the heart, instantly electrifying the living room's white walls. Notice, too, how the treatment ties the space together by helping the wallpaper and beams complement each other.

Craftsman Home With Gothic Touches in Los Angeles

After parting ways with their beloved Victorian home in San Francisco and relocating to Los Angeles, Caitlin Murray's clients knew they wanted their Craftsman to reflect their Gothic tastes. So Murray created an unexpected, blended design, starting with the living room. Here, lilac ceiling beams and a floral accent wall balance a moody blue velvet sofa and dramatic black area rug.

Floral Wallpaper Adds Interest to Living Room

Wildflowers bloom on the far side of the living room with the help of some vintage wallpaper. By layering a bold, midcentury mirror and console table on top of the delicate design, Caitlin Murray created a cool juxtaposition of shapes and styles.

Eclectic Living Room With Black-and-White Tiled Fireplace

The living room is larger than it looks, with a formal sitting area on one side and a fireplace on the other. To make this section feel chic yet cozy for those cool nights in L.A., designer Caitlin Murray layered in metallic pillows, cushioned benches and a traditional area rug.

Purple Paneling, Stained Glass Windows Nod to Home's History

Take a closer look at the living room walls, and you'll notice wood paneling and stained glass windows. These pieces instantly give the home a sense of history and charm.

Gold Light, Blue Velvet Sofa Bring Glamour to Living Room

As if the living room weren't luxe enough, its midcentury light fixture almost seems to drip gold. Down below, a crushed blue velvet sofa and black-and-white striped coffee table give the owners a spot to enjoy all the glamour.

Fireplace Mantel Becomes Built-In Bookshelf

Because the top of the fireplace is so spacious, the owners can showcase their favorite books right on the mantel. The colorful spines really complement the bright purple paneling.

Stack of Books Topped With Golden Ant Sculpture

Just looking around the room, it's clear that designer Caitlin Murray put a lot of thought into even the smallest details. This golden ant sculpture is no exception, as Murray used it to bring out the foil in her clients' book collection.

Contemporary Kitchen With Punk Rock Color Palette

Punk rock princesses will feel totally at home in this edgy black-and-pink kitchen. With its black countertops, gold hardware and midcentury fixture, the space is the perfect mix of bold and glamorous.

Kitchen Pairs Black Countertops, Pink Cabinets

Part of what makes this kitchen so visually interesting is the way designer Caitlin Murray paired moody black countertops with pastel pink cabinets. The contrast is especially striking when set against the crisp white walls.

Checked Black-and-White Runner Adds Interest to Kitchen

In this kitchen, a checked black-and-white runner works overtime by softening the hardwood floors and bringing in a little pattern. Because this is such a high-traffic area, the piece will protect the floors from scuffs as well.

Pink Kitchen Island Complete With Chic Black Barstools

In addition to stainless appliances, plenty of cabinets and a breakfast nook, the kitchen comes with an eat-in island. Four barstools provide comfortable seating and complement the black-and-pink color scheme.

Bright White Breakfast Nook With Built-In Banquette

With a built-in banquette, two acrylic chairs and a modern table, this breakfast nook is a stylish space for sipping coffee and reading the morning newspaper. Pink and black pillows keep the spot extra comfortable.

Even the flowers speak to the room’s color palette! Meanwhile, the spotted vase brings even more visual interest to the space.

Glass-and-Gold Dining Table Makes Chic Statement

With golden legs that resemble two antelope heads, this dining table makes a serious statement. Thanks to the glass top of the table, guests won't be able to take their eyes off the base during dinner.

Edgy Dining Room With Emerald Green Seating

This dining room is a feast for the eyes, drawing guests in with its dramatic black walls and emerald green seating. Even the rug is full of intrigue, as its different colors catch the light from the windows.

Gold Hardware Adds Luxe Touch to Dining Room Cabinets

The dining room also comes with built-in cabinets, where the owners can keep extra plates, wine glasses and other essentials for entertaining. Gold pulls give these a luxe touch as well.

Powder Room Floors Include Fun Message

Is this penny tile boo-tiful or what? As a nod to her clients' Gothic style, designer Caitlin Murray left a thrilling message in the powder room floors.

Black-and-White Powder Room With Penny Tile Floors

From the wallpaper to the penny tile floors, there are quite a few fun surprises in this powder room. The black cabinet with agate pulls is a nice touch, too, as it keeps extra towels on hand and offers a pop of pink.

Mystical, Eye-Patterned Wallpaper in Powder Room

All eyes are on you in this powder room! When paired with an agate accent, pink crystals and a book about angels, this wallpaper feels especially mystical.

Hot Pink Rug Adds Pop of Color to Eclectic Master Bedroom

Because the rest of the room is so neutral, a hot pink accent rug really pops! The owners will love how it softens the hardwood floors, too.

Cowhide Rug With Silver Spots Shines in Master Suite

From the metallic canopy bed to the tufted loveseat, every inch of this master suite feels luxurious. Even the faux-cowhide rug brings some shimmer to the space with its silvery spots!

Eclectic Master Suite Outfitted With Bold Black Linens

This master bedroom eschews crisp white linens in favor of something more dramatic: black pillows and a matching duvet cover. The two lamps on the nightstands complement the design nicely -- and give the owners a light for late-night reading.

Modern Nightstands Topped With Black Lamps

Two modern nightstands flank the bed, giving each of the owners a spot for their favorite books and evening essentials. Because the nightstands are so streamlined, they allow the accents on top to really shine.

Edgy Master Suite With Black Leather Loveseat

Just like the rest of the house, this master suite is edgy, eclectic and totally glamorous. Here, gray walls create a soothing, sleep-inducing environment, while a black leather loveseat and hot pink rug add a punk rock touch.

Detailed Look at Black Leather Loveseat in Master Suite

That tufted loveseat really is the crown jewel of the room, as it both gives the space structure and allows the owners to curl up with a book. To complement the piece, designer Caitlin Murray dressed the bed in black pillows and a matching duvet cover.

Gold-Trimmed Mirrors Resemble Gothic Cathedral Windows

With their unusual shape, these gold-trimmed mirrors almost resemble the windows in a cathedral. The candelabra accent below further drives this idea home and speaks to the owners' love of Gothic style.

Cheetah-Print Accent Wall With Art Deco Dresser

Across from the bed, cheetah-print wallpaper creates a bold accent wall. Two gold-trimmed mirrors and an Art Deco dresser complete the space.

Detailed Look at Flowers on Art Deco Dresser

There's something about fresh flowers that just makes a space feel put together. Here, pink tulips are matched with a pink vase and other gold accessories.

Eclectic Bathroom With Pink Wall, Pin-Up Art

Pink bathrooms were all the rage in the 50s, and it looks like designer Caitlin Murray is still digging the look! With a pink vanity and accent wall, pin-up girl print and black-and-white tile floors, this bathroom definitely feels like a throwback.

Studded Mirror Meets Midcentury Sconce in Eclectic Bathroom

Take another look at that midcentury sconce, and you might just notice a hand holding the light like a torch! With pieces like this hidden throughout the house, the owners and their guests will always have something new to admire.

Jewel-Toned Sitting Room With Ruby Red Sofa

This Craftsman home has a great sense of flow, with the foyer transitioning into a jewel-toned parlor. Here, guests can take a seat on the ruby red sofa and flip through some books while they wait for the owners.

Emerald Green Chairs Create Luxe Reading Corner

To the left of the sofa, two emerald green chairs create a luxe reading corner. A glass-blown chandelier illuminates the space, while bold artwork packs in some personality.

Eclectic, Two-Toned Bathroom With Rich Turquoise Tile

From the top, this two-toned bathroom looks totally traditional. But look past the pedestal sink, and you'll see that the space becomes an eclectic mix of turquoise tile walls, white penny tile floors and a southwestern rug.

Eclectic Bathroom Pairs Copper Faucet, Turquoise Tile

A copper faucet adds the perfect metallic touch to this two-toned bathroom. Notice how its brassy hue makes the turquoise tile seem especially bright and blue.

Unexpected Accents in Eclectic Blue Bathroom

Two unusual objects are perched on the edge of the sink: a tusk-shaped accent and a circular vase. Because so much of this bathroom is defined by clean lines, these immediately add interest to the space.

Traditional Tub in Eclectic, Two-Toned Bathroom

The other side of the bathroom is just as eye-catching, with a traditional tub, pin-striped shower curtain, penny tile floors and bold artwork. A large window fills the space with natural light.
