A classic, clean aesthetic was the goal for this kitchen remodel. Mixing different textures—wood, metal, stone—keeps the neutral palette from looking ho hum.

To enhance the kitchen cabinets' clean lines, the designers chose vertical cabinet hardware. Gray-washed benches are the perfect complement to the dark stained wood floor and gray-washed beams on the ceiling.

The open expanse of the kitchen allows a peek into the butler's pantry on the left and the living room on the right. Gilt iron lanterns over the island pay homage to the homeowners' love of French New Orleans style and are a graceful complement to the stainless steel and nickel finishes of the faucets and appliances.

Crisp white cabinetry and white marble countertops and backsplashes act as a neutral canvas on which the designers layered varied metal finishes and woods. The gray veins in the Calcatta marble is the perfect compliment to the stainless steel range.

Seating is provided at both the expansive island and the cozy banquette in the bay window. The ceiling beams pull the eye down the entire length of the long room.

An eleven-foot-long island makes sure there's plenty of seating and prep space. And for morning coffee, there is a cozy, sun-filled breakfast nook in the bay window.
